Madagascar Location Map

Madagascar is a big island, his is located at Mozambique canal and indian ocean.
Its surface is 590 000km2, with length of 1500km and width of 570km.
The capital is Antananarivo
Potentiality of Madagascar
- A potential for mining, agriculture, energy, fishing particularly
dense and varied, which must be exploited (With the
development of a big mining project (Sheritt Company from
Canada) the traffic is expected to grow by 3 million tons per year.

- A main port handling containers, dry and liquid bulk and general
cargo. The global traffic of Toamasina Port is evaluated at 1.7
million tons per year, of which 70% is containerized.

- Member of COMESA, AGOA, SADEC, WTO

- No less than 80% endemic species and a variety of other species


present in most of the island (vanilla, clove, …)

- Climat tropical zone


Potentiality of Madagascar
- The uniqueness and richness of its biodiversity (the biodiversity rate is 90%, No. 1 in
Africa) and the endemicity rate is the highest in the world) are also an asset for
tourism investment.

- 7 varieties of baobabs, 19 000 plant species and a fauna of more than 100 000
species (chameleons, turtles, lemurs, ravinala,…)

- This exceptional originality is particularly due to its isolated location in the middle of
the Indian Ocean
