To Whom it May Concern,
itis my distinct pleasure to recommend Kelly O'Connor for a Schoo! Counseling Position in your school,
itis rare when you meet someone and see them in their professional capacity and you think this person
‘was born to this type of work; Kelly was born to be a School Counselor. Kelly is extremely diligent and
genuinely enjoys her work and takes great pride and a sense of personal responsibilty to enact positive
change in the lives of young people.
Kelly brings passion and a thoughtful nature to her work every day and is characterized by her
colleagues as bright, industrious, and savvy. | have mentored Forty-seven Interns and Kelly's readiness
to fulfill the demanding role of a school counselor is at the head of the pack. Additionally, her strong
educational background and professional experiences has helped shape this exceptional counselor.
Kelly has an unparalleled work-ethic which enabled her to implement several new initiatives to our
school and cornmunity. Kelly transformed our Career Center resulting in entianced and streamlined
processes and practices. This was evidenced by increased student engagement and improved relations
‘with college representatives, community agencies, and partners. Kelly’s excellent communication and
interpersonal skills allow her to cultivate trusting relationships and students are constantly seeking her
support, Moreover, parents have been impressed with her professionalism, knowledge, and follow
through. We exposed Kelly to virtually every facet of the position and she proved more than capable
while seeking support when needed.
Kelly was omnipresent at counseling department and school activities including evening programs.
Furthermore, she has been recognized as a valuable community partner resulting in bringing a new
senior program to Norwalk HS by assisting students with post-secondary planning and senior-stress and
anxiety. As a member of the Norwalk Acts College and Social-Emotional initiatives, Kelly was and
continues to serve as an integral contributor with the 8-9" grade Transition Program, collecting and dis-
aggregating data and assessing the efficacy of our programs, Kelly is a wonderful advocate for students
and our department.
Kelly was an active participant in PPT, 504, and parent-staff meetings where she always comported
herself well. Kelly is cognizant of the litigious environment we live in and her strong modicum of
common sense and ability to think in a linear fashion enables her to negotiate the polity of education
effectively. Kelly will prove to be a dynamic presence in your school and her efforts will transcend theschool walls. | implore you to give her every consideration. Please feel free to contact me should you
have any questions. | can be reached at (203) 313-2945 or sullivand@norwalkps.org.
