NOTE: Typical clearance with OE parts is .010–.014" per friction plate.

1. Install piston into clutch housing using normal assembly procedures.

2. Assemble clutches and steels into clutch housing, adding one additional friction plate
and one additional steel plate for a total of 6 frictions and 6 steels.
3. Install backing plate and OE retaining ring.
4. Apply clutch a few times with
Sonnax Backing Plate
air pressure. OE Backing Plate
Sonnax Retaining
5. Check clutch clearance, Ring
target clearance is .060–.084".
6. If additional clearance is
needed, replace OE retaining
ring with thinner Sonnax
retaining ring.
