Ethers

 Ethers are organic compound in which oxygen atom is bonded to two carbon atoms by
single bonds.
Example of Ethers include:

 CH³- O-CH³
 CH³-O-CH²-CH³

Classification of Ethers
• Symmetrical Ether- A symmetrical ether is an ether in the molecule of which the two ligands on
the ether group are identical.

 Unsymmetrical Ether- An unsymmetrical ether is an ether in the molecule of which the two ligands
on the ether group are different.
