additions were made to the program.

We’re glad to share SAMS with new law enforcement The Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Police Department
organizations, and to support our existing sites.

The Future of SAMS

Now that SAMS is running at full speed, we’re focusing on other programs. Our plate is
filling up with SAMS-Track, the SANE app, and other projects. Don’t worry, though! We’ll
still be here to help you use SAMS. You can always call or email us.

SAMS-Track for the State of Oregon

SAMS-Track is a state-wide web application that officials can

use to record and view the movements of kits.

We developed SAMS-Track to fulfill the requirements of Senate

The Oregon State Capitol
Bill 1571 & House Bill 4049, which were passed in 2016 and
2018 by the State of Oregon. These bills require officials to record the status of sexual assault kits from
collection to disposal and every point in between. With the help of SAMS-Track, we can accomplish this goal.

SAMS-Track is used by: SAMS-Track users can:

 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs)  Initiate, view, and edit kits

 Police Officers  Use dashboards

 Forensic Scientists  See notifications

 And Criminal Prosecutors.  Send messages

 And export data.

We designed SAMS-Track to work for all the officials who process sexual assault kits in the state. That’s why
we give users different kinds of access to SAMS-Track depending on their role.

Keep an eye out for SAMS-Track in the coming year!

The Victim Portal

The Victim Portal is a website that gives survivors of sexual

assault anonymous updates on their kit’s progress through the
criminal justice system. Like SAMS-Track, the Victim Portal
fulfills requirements of the State of Oregon’s Senate Bill 1571 Susan & Dan Transferring Kits with the SAKTS App

and House Bill 4049.

To use the Victim Portal, survivors just need their SAFE kit
number and a device with an internet connection. There’s no
sign-in, no password, and no sensitive information.
To Find a Kit:
Nobody can see a kit’s progress without the correct SAFE kit 1. Go to the State of

4
The SANE App

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) app will be a mobile

app that nurses use to document the sexual assault medical
forensic exam.

In the past, nurses wrote the exam on paper. This made it

difficult to record, distribute, and read the exam. To solve
these problems, we will digitize the medical forensic exam.

The app will allow nurses to enter all the information needed
in the exam. This includes:

 Data entry  Injury logs

 Verbatim incident reports  And treatment

information.
 Bodygram drawings

After the exam is recorded, it can be exported to the proper

officials with the click of a button.
Madhu, the Developer of the SANE App
We began development of the SANE app in the Fall of 2019.
We anticipate it will be completed and launched in 2021.

Our Vision:
To provide Sexual Assault Nurse
Examiners with an intuitive, secure,
mobile app to document the
medical exam and share findings.
