1. What did you do last weekend?

Last weekend I went to university early in the morning, then I went to work until 6 in the
afternoon, then I went to my house and went out with my family to eat and watched a
movie, then we stayed at home drinking a beer pole that gave us desire to sleep.
Sunday morning when we wake up, we take a bath and go to the supermarket to do the
shopping since it is the day, we can go out to do the house shopping.

2. Write a short fairytale

Once upon a time, on a good summer day in a field, Grasshopper was jumping in a
musical environment. An ant spent carrying a corncob along with a great job that was
lost to the nest. Grasshopper in musical tone the grasshopper invited the ant to sit and
talk with him. But the ant refused saying that "I am storing food for the winter." "Why
don't you do the same?" The ant grasshopper. ant "Pooh! Why worry about winter?"
said the grasshopper; We have enough food at this time. "But the ant continued on its
way and continued its work. Finally, when winter came, Grasshopper found himself
starving, while ants distributed corn and grains from his storage. Then the Grasshopper
understood that ... It is better to prepare for the days of need.
3. Describe a major historical event.
1966 - Joaquin Balaguer, a Trujillo protege and former leader of the Reformist Party
(later to become the centre-right Christian Social Reform Party (PRSC), is elected
president.
1978 - Silvestre Antonio Guzman (PRD) is elected president and proceeds to release
some 200 political prisoners, ease media censorship and purge the armed forces of
Balaguer supporters.

4. Write what you did the last time you were on vacation.
Well, the last time I am on vacation I went alone without my wife, since the girl could
not travel at that time. I went to Boston, where I only lasted 5 days, it was a very short
but very good holiday, I rested a lot and I was able to visit a boy who didn't see you in a
long time.

D. Explain the rules of the sounds in the simple past for the verbs that are regular.

There are three different ways to pronounce the 'ed' ending of regular verbs in the simple past tense: / Id / ,
/ t / or / d /.

The pronunciation depends on the sound at the end of the infinitve of the main verb and whether it
is voiced or not.

Group A: Voiceless Last Sound of the Infinitive


If the infinitive of the verb has a voiceless sound at the end of it, such as p, k, s, ch, sh, f, x, or h, you
pronounce the "ed" ending as a "T." (Note the pronunciation in parentheses. It's the sound that determines
the group that a word belongs to, not always the written letter. For example, even though dance ends with
a -ce, its sound is that of an s, so it's in this voiceless group.)
Example: Ask, asked = ask(T)

Group B: Voiced Last Sound of the Infinitive
If the last sound in the verb is a voiced one, such as in l, v, n, m, r, b, v, g, w, y, z, and vowel sounds, or
diphthongs, then pronounce the "-ed" ending as "D." (Note the pronunciation in parentheses. The sound
determines the group that a word belongs to, not always the written letter. For example, even
though advise ends with an -se, its sound is that of the voiced z sound, keeping that word in this "voiced
sound" group.)
Example: Allow, allowed = allow(D)
