Education Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique learner and individual. Each child deserves a
positive, nurturing, and accessible education in which they can grow intellectually,
socially, and emotionally. As an educator, I would like to help learners reach their fullest
potential by providing an environment that is safe, supportive, and encouraging. A place
where students can share their beliefs, ideas, and questions. This environment
encourages risk, success and failure. There are three important and key elements to
create such an environment, (1) the teacher should lead by example and be a guide to
students (2) allowing the students to learn in their own manner and in a way that best
suits them, and (3) promoting positive social-emotional health and respect for all things.

The teacher should lead by example with instruction and with life. The teacher
should provide students with a vast knowledge base that encourages students to seek
out more information. It is important for teachers to show they are still learners and
growing along with the students. The teacher should model this through their instruction.
The teacher should speak in a calm manner and handle every situation with ease. The
teacher should work with the students through their problems and model how to be a
problem solver. It is important to show various learning styles and how each person is
unique. The teacher should differentiate to best fit each learners needs.

The students should be encouraged to learn in their own way. Each student is a
unique individual that is coming into the class with a wealth of knowledge and
experiences that are different from their classmates in the room. Students should be
able to set their learning up in a manner that best suits their needs. Students should be
able to study things that are relevant to their life and mean something to them. Students
in the class should want to learn and want to search for more information on the subject
they are studying. I want students to generate authentic ideas. As the teacher, I will
create a positive environment where students feel supported to explore their ideas.

Most importantly, students need an environment that encourages them to respect

all things including themselves. Promoting a positive social-emotional health creates a
space where students can freely share their emotions and feel supported. Students are
encouraged to solve problems and issues that arise during the school day and talk
about them in a healthy manner. This creates a space where students can grow
emotionally, and socially. Creating a space like this is important for their future because
they learn how to respect peers, teachers, themselves, and their environment. An
environment like this is crucial to a child’s growth.

I am eager to create this positive, supportive, child-based environment in my

future classroom. I cannot wait to share my passion for learning with my future students.
I want them to be curious and ask clarifying questions to ensure they are understanding
the information presented. I want them to crave learning and fall in love with it. I believe
we need dedicated teachers who are willing to create these kinds of environments and
are aware of each unique individual’s needs. I plan to meet my learners where they are
and push them to be the best they can be. I will do the same for myself and I strive to be
the best educator I can be!
