Training Needs Assessment


Exercise in HR-PMS
Significance of the TNA Exercise
• This TNA exercise will serve as a diagnostic tool for determining
what training needs to take place.

• It will help all the departments and Riphah as a whole achieve its
goals and objectives.

• It will help in reducing the gap between employee skills and the
skills required by the job and department.

• This training needs assessment exercise will also form the


benchmark for determining effectiveness of the trainings
administered in future.

TNA exercise in HR-PMS comprises of two steps:

•TNA form (for both employees and supervisors)


•TNA Approvals (for Supervisors only)

Note: TNA form is different for both employees and supervisors. You will
automatically be directed to the form according to your designation.

Step 1

Training Needs Assessment


for Employees
Log in into hrpms.riphah.edu.pk
Enter your User ID (Employee ID) and Password

Click on the tab “Learning and Development”

Click on the “TNA” option

Human Resource Department


Add your Job responsibilities and click “save”

Click on the “Add new training” tab to explore the training
categories and sub-categories

You will find four main categories of trainings and their sub-
categories after clicking “Add new training” tab

Explore the sub-categories to find the trainings most suitable to
your job and need

Select the training you find useful for you in your job, and
click submit
Check the box
next to the
training
suitable to
your job needs
and submit.
You can select
a maximum of
5 trainings If you are in the process of finalizing trainings, you can select the
related to your trainings and close the form before submitting them. Your data

When your record is saved, enter the intended benefits of the
training for your job and submit

Without entering the intended benefits of the


training for your job, your TNA data will not be
acknowledged.

Removing a proposed training

If you want to remove a training from your proposed list,


scroll the same screen towards the right and click on
“Remove”.

Your proposed trainings can now be viewed
by your supervisor for approval/ remarks.

Step 2

for Supervisors
Supervisors have two tasks to perform in the TNA
exercise

•Perform their own TNA

•To approve/ recommend the trainings


proposed by their subordinates

Log in into pms.riphah.edu.pk
Enter your User ID (Employee ID) and Password

Answer the questions in the form and click “ Submit” at the bottom

View details of all employees reporting to you

Here, you can find the names of employees


reporting to you. Click on “view details” to see
the proposed trainings

Approval/ Remarks of supervisor

Approve the trainings you feel are necessary for the employee’s job by
checking the small box in approval column. Give your remarks and save
the data after this is done.

You are now done with the TNA process.

Salient Features of TNA Exercise
• The data gathered through TNA will be analyzed and the result will be
helpful in finalizing the training plan in March, during the budget
exercise.

• Every year, by January, we will finalize the data for trainings to be


incorporated in the next financial year; so you are requested to
complete the TNA exercise by December. However, trainings can be
entered at any time during the year after that too.

• If your desired training is not available in our compiled list, you can
email the training title to HR department for incorporation in HRPMS.
