Ridgedale Permaculture, the northern most permaculture farm in

the world, was started Richard Perkins and Yohanna Amselem. It is
situated in Värmland, Sweden.

Ridgedale’s foremost responsibility is regenerating its landscape,

ecosystem processes and soils through resilient, replicable, scal-
able and profitable farm enterprises.

It’s secondary function is to educate, facilitate, inform and empow-

er people into action through regenerative design, enterprise and
holistic decision-making that fosters and stimulates local commu-
nity, economy and resilience.
THE OUTPUT
Using a system of 14 pens that each hold 75 birds the farm is able
to produce 7 tons of saleable meat per year. Revenue from this
is over €73,000 with an estimated labour input of 948 hours!

Taking into account all of the costs such as purchasing of chicks,

feed, fuel and electricity the total costs come to a little under €21,000
making this a very profitable part of the farm.

The great news is that is not hard to replicate either. You can choose
which scale to do this at.
