Dressing a chicken was my first time experience in my whole life.

I’m excited of the thought of dressing a chicken because it’s a new

experience to me. But I went into this worried feeling about getting
sick, about killing a living thing just like a chicken. But I was
determined to give this a try and see it through.

In slaughtering the chicken, I found a place outside, preferably

over the soil, where you won't mind getting lots of blood and feathers
on the ground. I asked help to one of my classmates to help me in
holding the chicken. I doubled check the wrap or the tie in its feet so
that it would not be struggling in my hand. The chicken was already
hanging, waiting to be slaughtered, and was perfectly still. The chicken
will not do anything to make you feel guilty when you do what must be
done.

Now that the chicken was completely bled out, I started on the
next step. I made a choice at this point to take the skin off the
chicken, feathers and all, as opposed to removing the feathers. This
part, I felt so irritated because it was so hard to remove those fine
feathers.

The hardest and unpleasant part of dressing a chicken was

removing the internal parts or organs of the chicken. I experienced
difficulties of removing the intestines away from the chicken butt
because I got mistaken of cutting the part where intestines came out.
Removing the bile in the liver part was also the hardest one.

I had almost done. And I’ve gotten through the hardest part
without vomiting! The rest was easy. I felt relieved after dressing the
whole chicken.
