LESSON PLAN

A. STUDENT and SETTING:


Student:
Ages range 8-10 years old
Grade level: Grade 4
Language Level: Follow-up of level 3
Type of Learner: Filipino/Indigenous People coming from ATA-MANOBO TRIBE
Setting:
Type of Institution: Public School
Number of Pupils in the Class: 30 Pupils
Time of Class: 60 minutes per day
Lesson Topic: Using the Present Forms of Verbs

B. LESSON BACKGROUND:
Language Skills Focus: Listening, Writing, Speaking
Core Vocabularies: mend, bronze, teach, and sew.
The objective of the Lesson is for the 2nd Quarter of the English Competencies for the
whole year. This lesson is new topic for the grade 4 pupils. In a class of 30 pupils ages 8-10 years
old. This s lesson is intended for 1 day. The teacher did not include the review before this lesson
because it is a new lesson for the class.

The lesson started with a mood setting singing of action song “Sit down, sit down,
you’re rocking the boat. Play the song with a laptop and speaker to make the singing enjoyable
and jolly. The teacher show different pictures of community helper. Ask questions to motivate
them to know what kind of community helper in the picture. Show a word like “doctor” and put
on the picture for the children where to identify it. While pasting on the picture: teacher will
say this is a doctor, the doctor cures the patient. Let the pupils read the sentence, the doctor
cures the patient. Practice exercise was also done in the lesson for the pupils to manipulate the
activity by completing the chart. In the group activity present guidelines/setting of standards
for the activity to perform before it starts. Divide the class according to their ability. Each group
will be given activity, the activity has 4 groups. The 2 group have 7 members and other 2 groups
have 8 members. Group 1- take down the all verb in the poem. Group 2- select a community
helper on the poem and present in the class. Group 3- match the words into the pictures.
Group 4- draw 1 picture and describe in a sentence. Asking if they do their task using the verb
found in poem in making a sentence. After their performance, teacher asks this question:
 Do you know our community workers?
 What they do to help the community?
In the activity, can you pick the verb in the poem and use in the sentence?
The teacher will do the remaining of the group. These approaches will assess and
facilitate the pupils understand the lesson. After group activity, the teacher asked a question to
ensure the pupils understanding the lesson. How does the activity assess and help them. These
are the following question.
 How do you find the activity?
 Does the activity give insight to the pupils?
 How will you use s/es in the sentence or word?
The teacher gives an assignment for the pupils to have retention of the lesson and be able to
present for the next day. Since the lesson is a one day plan, the teacher aiming at the end of the
lesson able to identify the verb in the poem and in the sentence. Also, pupils can use verb in
their daily conversation because they know already what is verb.

C. LEARNING OBJECTIVES/EXPECTED RESULTS:

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will identify the simple and S/es-form of verbs in
sentences.
Expected Results:
The pupils are expected to use the simple and S/es-form of verbs in sentences.

F. Alternative Assessment:
` This plan uses cooperative assessment activities to guide the learning competency of the
pupils. Group evaluation was made during the presentation of the group work. Where in other group
will be the one to evaluate the work of the group presenter with the scaffolding of the teacher based
on the guidelines and standard of the activity. In this assessment pupils were able to deepen their
understanding more on the lesson, able to identify the simple and –s/-es form of verb in the sentence,
and also show their creativity and develop critical thinking by presenting their works. Conferencing and
dialogue are the alternative assessment answering the group activity. This is the time where the
teacher scaffolds students understanding and know the strategy they used to attain the objective of
the lesson. After giving of assessment the teacher expects the student to answer the group work
through the use of the 4 skills which are the writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Correcting group
task/quizzes was also used as one of the performance assessment which the teacher do other teacher
works during group activity.

G. Reflection - phase 1:
Productive skills (speaking, writing) and receptive skills (listening, reading) are properly
demonstrated in this plan. Since the plan is for one day only with low and average level of thinking
students. The lesson was made easier, attainable and stress-free for the students to be competent in
attaining the objective of the lesson. Presentation of poem by reading, listening, drawing, and writing
the community helper and its corresponding pictures are suited for low and average students the
teacher have. Identifying the simple and –s/-es form of the verb in the sentence and also attainable.
Let the students listen the poem motivates them to participate in the group activity. The poem based
on the helper so that they are able to connect their practice behavior and manipulate the activity.
