2. There are 14 tasks listed on the job description. Write specific task statements in the table
below. Using the following guidelines, determine the importance of each of these tasks.

1. Administer effectively the locals of
the Union in his/her assigned Zone,
seeing to it that the policies of the
Union in the administration and
servicing of locals are being followed
and upheld
2. Organize and establish the council of
leaders in the Zone to get full
cooperation in the activities of the
Union in the Region
3. Negotiate new, and renewal of,
collective bargaining agreements
(CBA’s) with companies, together
with negotiating panel members of
locals, in accordance with the
policies of the Union on CBA
negotiations
4. See to it that the provisions of CBA’s
in all locals/companies within the
zone are properly implemented and
fully enforced/complied with
5. Handle grievances of members
against their employers within the
confines of the grievance machinery
provided in CBA’s and/or the labor-
management council/committee;
make representations with employers
on behalf of aggrieved members of
amicable settlement of grievances;
and recommend to the Director of
the MRS the filing, with proper
government agency/ies, of
cases/complaints against any
company in the Zone, as the need
arises
6. Train local officers and shop towards
in handling grievances in their
respective locals
7. Conduct solidarity meetings with
officers and members of other locals
in the zone, especially in CBA
negotiation deadlock which may
result to strike action; and assist in
manning the picket lines during
strike action in the Zone
8. Have regular meeting with the
officers and general membership of
every local in the zone
9. Conduct election of local officers in
accordance with the policies and
Constitution & By-Laws of the Union
as well as the local Constitution and
By-Laws
10. See to it that all employees/workers
in the bargaining unit in CBA-
covered companies in the Zone are
members of the Union and are
paying regularly their monthly dues
11. Maintain an updated record of all
locals in the zone, with the (a) names
of their officers and members, (b)
term of office of local officers, (c)
important dates in the CBA’s like
renegotiation period, freedom period
and expiry date, and (d) other
relevant information
12. Brief the Director of MRS from time
to time of important developments
involving any local in the zone and
other matters which the Director of
MRS is supposed to know
13. Submit to the Director of MRS every
month or at such time as may be
required, report of activities and
accomplishments
14. Perform such other duties which
his/her superiors may require
him/her to do from time to time
