COMMENTS
1) Objective and necessity of the project:
This road has been taken over from North Bengal Development Department in the year 2017-18.
This road is very important road in the district of Jalpaiguri with clasification of major district road
(MDR) . The total length of the road is 16.50 km and carriageway width of the road is 5.50 m.
This road is serves as an alternate route from Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. Daily thousand of vehicle
passes through this road to go to siliguri and NJP Station. This road is also connectivity with the
Gajaldoba Project(Bhorer Alo).
At present it is seen that the condition of the road is at a moderate stage as the top most
wearing course which is SDBC has become hungry and worn out, due to wear & tear along with
small depressions at some place. It can be predicted that the road might get more damaged
during this rainy season ,if not taken care off immediately, might lead to damaged of the base
course as a result creation of potholes may come into existence and finally give rise to fatal
accidents and insecurity of precious life. So, considering the importance of this road and
present situation ,surfacing work is required through out the road leaving out the mastic portion
area so as to provide a smooth running condition over the road.
As the mastic portion of the road from CH- 0.00kmp, 4.60kmp, 5.10kmp, 5.80kmp,
6.20kmp,7.00kmp, 8.90kmp, 10.50kmp, 10.70kmp, 14.20kmp, 14.80kmp, 15.60kmp,
15.90kmp,16.50kmp is in good condition, so this portion of the road is not included in this project
work.
At ch. 1.50kmp, 2.40 kmp and ch.6.80kmp has been considered p.c.c. guard wall for protection
of the flank. Details of which is provided in the table no 10 below, which has been considered in
this estimate and also hard shoulder is provided 60% of the total length of the road shoulder.
