Math Homework Note: This week students will have a math
mystery as homework. We are working on building our fact
fluency. Calculating area will be easier with this fluency. On the
first day of each week students will bring home a multiplication
pretest that they can use to practice multiplication facts. On
Friday we take the same quiz again and students graph his/her
progress. Students get a minute and a half to work on the facts.
I’m not expecting that the whole sheet is finished in that time.
We are working on progress, not perfection.

Our third-grade historians recently "traveled back in
time" to the pioneer years (1700-1800s) to discover
what life was like for people living long ago. We've
got some eager students that plan to volunteer
and reenact what life was like in an 1870's cabin.
Your family is invited to peer into pioneer life during
this special Blandford Nature Center Saturday
community event. Mrs. Staal and our 3rd-grade
historians will be in the historic log cabin on March 7
from 11 am - 2 pm. Check out the Facebook event

What We’re Learning

Bible: We are continuing our study
of Moses.
Reading: Students will begin using
their reading strategies to research
a Native American tribe. We will
also be reading biographies of
famous African Americans.
Social Studies: We are going to
do some amazing hands on
learning about pioneer life at
Blandford Nature Center.
Math: This week we will begin
area and perimeter. We will be
using items Mr. VanTil
constructed at the GRPM to
calculate their area/perimeter.
Science:This week we are
studying what happens when
water hits the ground. We are
doing experiments with soil and
gravel.
