A Short Bio of Addison Perkins
A Short Bio of Addison Perkins
Addison Gray Perkins (born 23rd of May 1992), graduated from Austin Peay State
University with a Bachelors of Music in 2017 and received a Masters of Music from the State
University of New York at Fredonia in the Spring of 2019, where he attended on performance
scholarship. Some of Mr. Perkins’ accomplishments include; attending the Big Guitar Weekend at
the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on bursary, studying with Maestro Leo Brouwer in
Masterclasses, performing as a special guest at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua New York
and receiving top marks on his comprehensive examination during his Masters. He has since turned
his attention to chamber music, particularly voice and guitar, in order to bring this often overlooked
repertoire to a wider audience. His repertoire list includes the compositions for voice and guitar he
has studied as well as his own arrangements of Franz Schubert and Aaron Copland.
Perkins has made connections with many of the Classical Guitar worlds finest performers
and composers including: Thomas Viloteau, Matthew McAllister, James Piorkowski and the ARTIS
GuitarDuo. As a Professor of Music Technology, Popular World Music and Guitar Studies, Perkins
interacts with students in a variety of majors and departments. Furthermore – at the age of twenty-
seven – he has the unique ability of easily connecting with students through mutual interests, thus
affording the students opportunities to experience music they may have otherwise never
encountered.
It is for these reasons that Addison Perkins would make a wonderful addition to the
Clarksville Community Concert Association’s board. His experience as a performer and his passion
for music, combined with his devotion to his students and the community arts would make him a
