Integrated School Sub-title: Leave Policy – Victims of Violence June 1, 2015
against Women and Children

Saint Charles Borromeo Integrated School gives its female employees who have been
victims of violence as well as their children to a Leave for Victims of Violence Against Women
and their children as aligned with the Philippine laws.

I. Guidelines
Violence against Women and Children is defined under Republic Act 9262 as
“any act or a series of acts committed by any person against a woman who is his
wife, former wife or against a woman whom the person has or had a sexual or dating
relationship, or with whom he has a common child, or against her child whether
legitimate or illegitimate within or without the family abode which will result in or is
likely to result in physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering , or economic
abuse including threats of such acts, battery, assault, coercion, harassment, or
arbitrary deprivation of liberty.”

II. Entitlement
A Leave for Victims of Violence against Women and their children is up to ten
(10) days with full pay during the time that she needs to attend to their medical and
legal needs.
Full pay shall be based on her last gross monthly compensation immediately
prior to such medical contingency. This is in addition to any other paid leaves the
staff is entitled to as an employee of the Program.
This entitlement maybe extended depending on the need for the same as
specified in the protection order issued by the barangay or the Court.
III. Requirements
a. The victim/employee must present a certification from the Barangay Chairman, or
Barangay Councilor or Prosecutor, or Clerk of Court, as the case maybe that an
action relative to the matter is pending.
IV. Forfeiture, Non-encashment and Enjoyment with Other Leaves
The usage of the Leave for Victims of Violence against Women and children shall
be at the option of the woman/employee. In the event that the leave benefit is not
availed of, it shall not be convertible to cash and shall not be cumulative.
V. Procedures
1. The employee shall inform the administrative office of the nature of the situation
and apply for a Leave for Victims of Violence against Women and children benefit
attaching a certificate from the barangay, prosecutor or the Court of the domestic
violence situation.
2. The school shall take appropriate action on the request for a leave for Victims of
Violence against Women and Children.
3. The concerned employee must submit the leave application form within a
reasonable time.
4. 5. The administrative office shall record and the employees’ availment of the
Leave for Victims of Violence against Women and Children as such.

VI. EFFECTIVITY

This Policy shall take place effective immediately and shall be made known to every employee.
