Detailed Lesson Plan in Technical Drawing 8

Date: February 10, 2020

9:30-10:30
I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
1. State the importance of having a dimension line;
2. Compare the unidirectional method and aligned method form of dimensioning and
3. Draw proper dimension line of the given orthographic view.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Dimensioning
Subtopic: Dimensioning method
Reference: Mechanical Drafting Grade 8 – pp 117-117
Materials: Manila paper, pentel pen, televsion

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

a. Activity/Motivation
Good morning to everyone! Good morning ma’am.
Today we are going to discuss our new lesson to the lesson
yesterday.
Any question on the orthographic projection None ma’am.

Good. What are the 3 main views in orthographic

projection? Yes Maivelyn Top view, front view and side view ma’am

Very good

You are going to draw the 3 main views of an object but

this time you are going to place its dimension. Yes ma’am.

By the way what is dimension? Yes Angel Size of an object ma’am.

Nice idea. Dimension is the size or measurement of and

objects class. Did you understand? Yes ma’am.

I have here an object on the board. Study the object and

draw its three (3) main views with dimension.

Did you bring your drawing materials? Yes ma’am.

Ok. Here are the instructions in doing your task.

1. Analyze the given object and locate its front view, side view
and top view.
2. Draw vertical line and horizontal line on the drawing paper.
3. Analyze the front view of the object and draw its projection to (Students will read the instruction flash on the monitor)
its proper location.
4. Next is to draw the side view of the object followed by the top
view.
5. Indicate the dimension of the 3 main views based from the
given measurement of the object.

Any question on the instruction class? None ma’am.

I will give you fifteen minutes to do the task. Yes ma’am.

B. Analysis
Ok fifteen minutes is up. I will group you into five.
The groupings will be per table. Is that ok with you class? Yes ma’am.
Your task as a group is to compare your outputs to the
expected output in our monitor. Compare on the details of
the object class.
Did you understand class? Yes ma’am.

Every group is given 5 minutes to observe and compare.

You can now proceed. Yes ma’am.

(Students will compare their output to the drawing on the

monitor)

Ok seems the entire group are ready. Who wants to present

first?
Yes Mariellas group. Who will present?

Yes Mariella. Based from our observation ma’am, the extension line must
be thinner than the visible line.

Ok. Nice observation. How about the other group? In our drawing ma’am, we have observed that the location
Yes, the group of Joshua. of our views is not on the proper place.

Ok very good. Your 3 main views should follow the proper

position. Did you understand class? Yes ma’am.

Whose group is next?

Yes. The group of Carlea. In our drawing sir, we do not follow the proper
measurement ma’am.

Ok, that should not be done. Actually measurement is

Important in every drawing. Did you understand class? Yes ma’am.

Let us see the observation of the group of Angel We have observed that the drawing on the monitor is
different in terms of writing its dimension size.

Very good observation.

Checking Components of Washing Machine

Black-Red Black-Blue Red - Blue
AC motor
White-Blue White-Red Blue-Red
Timer Switch
Charge Discharge Condition
AC capacitor

You will do the task by group. I will group you into three
and you will observe the measurements in every test points. The students will be group into
into 3 and they will do the task.

This will be the instruction, please listen. Yes sir.

1. The first group will check the AC capacitor; second

group will check AC motor and third group will check
the timer switch.
2. Each member of the group must perform the testing
procedure.
3. After four minutes, exchange your component to the other
group until you finish all the components.
4. Record the measurement of the different test points.

Any question class on the instruction? None sir.

Ok I will give you 12 minutes to do the task.
Students will measure every test
points using multitester.

c. Abstraction
Ok time is up. Please pay attention to me now. Let us see
the measured resistance to the different test points of every
component.

Who can tell to the class his measured resistance in AC capacitor?

Yes John Wayne. The student will explain the
result of his testing procedure
on the capacitor.
Nice one John Wayne.
Actually that is the measurement of good conditioned capacitor.

How about on the measurements on the test points of AC motor?

Yes William Jay. The student will explain the
result of his testing procedure
on the AC motor.
Very good William jay.

From that measurements, we can locate the common, forward

winding and reverse winding of the AC motor. We can
determine by identifying the two test points having the same
measurements. The common there is the stationary terminal
while checking the test points.
Did you understand class? Yes sir.

How about the timer switch, who can explain its measurements?
Yes Adrian. The student will explain the
result of his testing procedure
on the timer switch.
Nice one Adrian.
The same with the AC motor class, the stationary terminal
while checking the two test points with the same meter behavior
is the common terminal.
Did you understand class? Yes sir.

D. Application
I have here the images of the components class. Each group
will connect the components to complete its operation.
Listen to the instruction class. Yes sir
1. Attach the image of the component to the manila paper.
2. Connect the components using lines following the diagram
of the washing machine.
3. Label the components.
4. Explain to the class after connecting the components.
Any question on the instruction class? None sir

You are given 10 minutes to do the task. Yes sir.

You may now start.

Ok time is up. Whose group is ready to present?

Yes group 2. The group 2 will present
their diagram.
Very good group 2. Let us clap for group 2.
What group is next? Yes group 1. The group 1 will present
their diagram
Nice one group 1. Ok Let us listen to group 3. The group 3 will present
their diagram
Very good group 3. Let us clap for group 3.

IV. EVALUATION

This time, you are now going to connect the actual components
Based from your diagram.

Please listen to the instruction. Yes sir

1. Each group will connect the components of the washing machine.
2. There will 5 minutes allotted in every group.
3. Make sure that all connections are covered with electrical tape.
4. Check and finalize the connection of the components.
5. Conduct final testing to know if your circuit is operating.

Reminder. Do not touch expose wire during the operation.

This may cause electric shock.
(the teacher will check and test the output of every group by
Plugging the circuit to the AC source.)

V. Assignment:
