TABLE OF CONTENTS
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION AND CONTEXT OF THE REPORT
1.1.SELF-INTRODUCTION
My full name is Ho Nguyen Ngoc My. I love English when I was 5 years old and in the future I
want to be a translator .Undeniable , English becomes more and more popular which is used by
nearly 1 billions people in the world. This number is still on the rising trend that other languages
can against English. In 2016, I read information about the educational philosophy that the aim of
education in universities and colleges is not only providing theories from books to dtuents but
also training them through real working environment in order to make a new workforce for
society on the IUH’s website . For that reason, I decided to apply to the Industrial University of
Ho Chi Minh City. Now, I am the last year student at IUH. My major is Bachelor in English
Language. My faculty has the AUN-QA certificate. Industrial University has built the studying
route for their students with the internship in the last semester. They are considered as
opportunities for students to test their knowledge, improve their own skills and learn new things
from reality. That is the reason we need an internhip.
1.2 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE INTERNSHIP
Like many other students, my first internship is in the second semester of the last year. I chose
translation field instead of teaching English. I had my own plans to achieve good results for it
and myself, thought about what I should do to improve my knowledge and skills in a
professional working environment. I think the educational philosophy of IUH is right. I applied
my CV into the link CV.com and decided to choose Anh Nguyet Translation Company. I am
very pleased with my dicision. I believed this was a great opportunity for me not only to get the
knowledge and skills from university but also internship environment shall help me gain
experiece in the career field I want to pursue and and increase confidence in my work.
My main task during 8 weeks internship was translating official documents and letters,
cooperation projects, newsletter, email,.. I could learn how a professional workplace operates,
workplace culture, employee relations, and leadership structure. I also had many opportunities to
attend meeting and conferences held in 5 Stars standard hotels. I have just felt very lucky
because I could have chance to work in an ideal environment as I had dreaming about.
This report is mainly about what I did and studied in a short period of time I work as an intern at
Anh Nguyet Translation and Consulting Company Limited., my job description as well as some
translated documents I have done are all enclosed in this report.

Comany from Vietmese to English. I received 2 passport of 2 persons they were the head of R.R

they could get visa and visit Vietnam for their bussiness.
-(27/11) I submissed the file included 2 invitation letters which tranlated on 26th November,
2019 at the Embassy of Malaysia in Vietnam.
-(28/11) In the next 90% of my internship I asked my supervisor easily can work at home. I
tranlated “Labour Contract” of Mr.Vinh Chi Dat-presentator of Dieu Khai Kim Starionaries
Trading Services Company Limited & Mr.Huynh Luong Minh from file PDF- Vietnamese to
English.
-(29/11) I supported Ms.Anh Nguyet of translating and filling Visa Application Form To Enter
Japan.
3.2.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Always update new words in Oxford, Cambridge, Thefreedictionary
The translation was a worthwhile experience since it did not only make me sharpen my English
vocabulary but also my Chinese and Vietnamese ones, especially in the domain of personal
documents, contracts, invitation letters, emails not only use V-A dictionary but also use V-V
online dictionary: tratu, wikitionary, informatic..Miss Anh Nguyet gave me an “Identity Card” of
Mr. Mai Dang Minh and she wanted me to translate it from Vietnamese to English. I would type
it become a text ( in file word ) then send it to her email. She considered my transcript and if i
was wrong, she pointed me for my faults in October 12, 2019. It is also very important to keep
yourself updated and research vocabulary in using in transcript among Vietnamese and English.
Furthermore, i was also asked to find new word in verson “Brith Certificate” of Mr. Lam Duy
Cuong - the original then i made a copy and translated. She also proved me other types of words
that are usually drafted in the company. For instance, “permanent residence/ temporary
address”, “ dressmaker- tailor ” “ date of birth- birthdate”, “place of birth- birthplace”,
“native place- place of origin”, “race- religion- ethnic group”, “occupation-job”. “ picture-
photograph”.
-Find and use suitable dictionary in book as well as the Internet
Many verson were required high technique but my performance could not enough meet their
needs. I used machine translation- it called a computer program produces, without any human
linguistic intervention. You enter or paste in the text you want translated, select the languages,
click a button, and give your result. Google Translate and T-Flat Translator App are two well
known (free) examples of this type of translation i did. Actually, the problem is that
the quality of the translations produced is very patchy. Some parts can be excellent, but other
wording can be unclear or even incoherent, and straight out incorrect translations are not
uncommon.

I often used this method when i had some troubles with “ technique verb ” . In “House Lease
Contract” between Mr.Nguyen Van Len and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan & Ms.Phan Thi Be Khanh
. Some pharses were wrong which i found on the Internet as: “Sau đây gọi là bên A- called as
Party A” but the truth was “Hereinafter reffered to as Party A”.Or “ Không đóng bảo hiểm xã
hội - the pharse on T-Flat Translate App: “ do not social insurance payment ” - the truth was: “
do not pay social insurance”.

In “Conformation Letter” at “Today have been to the demand to make travel records i make this
application to respectfully request the Company to attest that my income level with content as
follows:” i researched on forums “Transltion and Interpreting Group” which could be wrong in
grammar using: “Today i have the demand to make travel records, I request this application form
to respectfully ask the company to confirm my income level with the content as follow:”

Miss Nguyet advised me that this method should never be used for business or commercial
purposes and human translation and plus revision is the highest level of translation’s quality as
recognised as the best practice.

-Consulting opinion Translator Group on Website and Social Media

In addition, i joined in Translation and Interpreting Blog on Facebook and Gengo Website, i
shared the obstacles that i encountered when translating “unfamiliar” and “technical” topics in
the assigned text to seek advice and experienced translators. For example, in “Certificate of Land
Use Right” at “Giấy chứng nhận này được cấp do nhận chuyển nhượng hồ sơ theo số 005979,
thay thế một phần công trình xây dựng trên đất theo Giấy chứng nhận quyền sử dụng đất, quyền
sở hữu nhà và tài sản khác gắn liền với đất số CT55143 ngày 08/4/2016 do Sở Tài nguyên và
Môi trường cấp, đã đăng kí thay đổi ngày 26/05/2016 và ngày 01/09/2017 tại Văn phòng Đăng
ký đất đai thành phố; Giấy phép xây dựng số 162/GPXD ngày 16/11/2015 do Sở Xây dựng cấp. ”

I researched on forums “Vietnamese Transltor Group” which could be given truth fix in grammar
using: “This Certificate is issued due to ownership separation according to record No. 005979 to
replace one part of construction project on the land by Certificate of land use right, house
ownership and other assets attached to land No. CT55143, issued on 08 April, 2016 by
Department of Natural Resources and Environment, registered change on 26 May, 2016 and 01
September, 2017 by office of land use right registration of City; Permission of construction
number 162/GPXD-UBND dated 16 November, 2015 issued by the Ministry of Construction.”

Thus, based on my knowledge of translating that i have been taught at IUH, i translated text on
my own. When the confusion or uncerntainty of some ideas presenred in the text came, i first
searched ralated information on Google. Then i tried my best to comprehend the texts.
Otherwise, i asked my instructor for advise and suggestion. At the end, i provided my finished
work to my supervisor who required a glance at it and ask me to make some alteration to the
ultimate version.

CHAPTER 4: REFLECTION
4.1 REFLECTION ON DEVELOPED WORKING AREAS AND SKILLS:
4.1.1 Description skills, attitudes, knowledge that i have studied at IUH:
The aim of education in universities and colleges is not only theories from books to student but
also training them through real working environment in order to make a new workforce for
society. Being a student of Faculty Foreign Language at IUH, i felt lucky that i could being a
good person in atitudes, skills and knowledges under AUN-QA Standard.
(AUN-QA Network is established as the ASEAN quality assurance network in higher education
with the responsibility to promote quality assurance in higher education institutions, raise the
quality of higher education, and collaborate with both regional and international bodies for the
benefit of the ASEAN community.)
-Knowledge
Level knowledge from Basis, Theories, Information, Facts, Figures, Description, Learning,
Science, like: Philosophy of Marxism and Leninism, Research and graduate study methodology,
Ho Chi Minh 's thought, Computer skill, Introduction to laws and it was a wonderful
opportunity for me to learn many field of study as: Lexicalogy, Gramma, Speaking, Listening,
Writing, Reading 1, 2, 3 and Advanced Speaking, Translting and Interpreting 1,2,3, and
Teaching Methodology, Market Leader and learn new things relating to.
Especially in subject Translation 3, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy provided practical help in
writing commercial correspondence of all kinds including letters, faxes, emails, application
letters, reports, memos, social correspondence such as: banks, insurance company, agencies,
companies involved in transportion, shipping and application letters for us who plan to make a
career in business world.
She explained how to write clearly and effectively and demonstrated how it is possible to be
polite without seeming timid, direct yet not rude, consise rather than abrupt, and firm but not
inflexible. Moreover, it could help me to analysis of the objectives to aim when i am writing,
with, where appropriate, lists of alternative pharses, sentences, or paragraphs which i can
subtitute in different situations.
+Complimentary close
She gave examples correspondence and transaction, together with comprehension questions
focusing on content, vocabulary, style, and the roles of correspondents. For instance, in the
Complementary close: If the letter begins Dear Sir, Dear Sirs, Dear Madam, Dear Sir or
Madam, the COMPLEMENTARY CLOSE should be Yours faithfully. Must always avoid
closing with old-fashioned pharse e.g. We main yours faithfully, Respectfully yours.
+Inside address
Maybe in Order of inside address, after the name of the person and / or company receiving the
letters, the recommended order and style of addresses in the UK as follows:
-Name of house or building Best Buy Building
-Number of buiding and name of street, 36-38 Emprire Avenue
road, avenue, etc.
New York
-Name of town or city and postcode
United States
-Name of country
+Rules in writing email business
Do not confused personal messages with business massages. In a business message, the same
rules of writing as apply as for a letter: write clearly, carefully, and courreously, consider
audience, purpose clarity, consistency, conciceness, and tone.
Do not write words in capital letters in an email message. This can be seen as the equivalent of
shouting and therefore have an negative effect. If you want to stress a word, put asterisk on each
side of it, e.g.*urgent*
+Passive sentences
Active sentences are more preferable in Vietnamese language than English language. So, when
translating English passive sentences into Vietnamese “ bị” “được” or “chịu” are usuaaly
omitted. For example “ We were impressed by the selection of gardening tools displayed on your
stand at this year ‘s Hamburg Gardening Exhibition”( Công ty chúng tôi rất quan tâm bộ phận
làm vườn của quý công ty đã trưng bày ở Hội chợ triển lãm Hamburg năm nay)
-Attitudes
In class Interpreting 3, students shall work with their classmates in a team organized by the
Subject Coordinator for the purpose of simulated work experience. They carry out individual and
team-based English-Vietnamese translation projects to experience the variety of roles in
professional translation such as commissioner, editor and reviser and to acquire collaborative
skills in order to help us train many personal attitudes like: Self-Motivation, Self-Confidence,
Enthusiam, Co-Operarive, Honesty and Optimism, Commitment, Intergrity.
Students kept an e-phone to record and reflect on their work as an intern, including their
translation tasks, log of work they undertake, and reflective diary. We also observed the working
environment of professional translators and develop practical work skills and understanding of
ethical translation practice in context through exchange foreign person from Hospital,
University, English Center otherwise we watched by video clip and E-learning Classroom.
-Skills
University is a good environment for me. At IUH, i had to tolerate much articles, skills, attitudes
or ethics, and a range of soft preparation skills for graduation. They organised so many science
conferences like Trados, “Flipped-Classroom” Workshop, International Camp “ Innovation,
Startup and Sustainable Development” between IUH and NIU, “Education and Research of
Environmental Resources and Protection”, Workshop “From Zero to Hero - Engendering
Students’ Self-Efficacy in Joining Contests and Startup” and etc..
Specifically, students are the most beautiful time, but not only study but also beautiful
community activities, volunteering. Volunteering is a meaningful activity that positively affects
the community and society. I took part in meaningful activities : “Green Summer Camp” ,
“Loving Spring”, “Gift for Difficult Kids in Lunar New Year” at Dong Thap, Binh Thuan
Province and District 12.
To be more precise, i intended in “ Winter School Green Technology Camp” in Taiwan for 10
days (15/01/2019-25/01/2019). It was a good opportunity to learn life experieces through
“Growing Rice in Soil” with high-tech agriculture farm, visiting a number of renewable energy
plants, meeting scientist and successful entrepreneurs at here. In addition, i also had the chance
to pracrice English with Japanese, Chinese volunteers who was tourguilde during 10 days in
Yilan.
Definitely, it will help me create a great relationship network, not only makes me develop long-
term relationships, but it is also a great way to get more people from all walks of life, the
environment, and my career in future.
On the contrary, studying at IUH taught me how to feel inspiration for learning and career
inspiration, help me my your efforts to firmly step forward successful future. Higher education
not only trained knowledge but also educated my-self on self-study, critical and thinking and had
an ability to organize life and work for me.
In other words , professional knowledge, information technology, foreign languages and soft
skills are factors that IUH trained for me to ensure that after graduation, i shall be able to apply
for jobs and develop well in businesses.
-Description skills, attitudes that i learned at Anh Nguyet Translation Company:
