1. Psychomotor Domain Objectives:
 Perform proper technique of specific compound exercises

2. Cognitive Domain Objectives:

 Demonstrate understanding of specific compound exercises

3. Affective Domain Objectives:

 Encourage positive attitudes to learning
 Develop interest in alternatives to sport

Warm-up Activities:
 Quick jog around the room
 Stretching

Sequence of Skill Development / Practice: (Here, describe

specifically how you will arrange, manage, speak, and teach
students from the first minute of class time to the last
minute. Write short sentences in bullets to account for the

entire lecture. stretch a bit farther.
- Gather the class in a semi-circle around me and explain
the day’s lesson.
- We are going to cover a few compound exercises.
- Compound exercises are moves that incorporate more
than one muscle group and are great for full body and
circuit workouts.
- Disadvantage is that you can not apply as much weight
and isolate a single muscle group.
- The first move we are going to cover is the burpee.
10:04 - There are many variations of the burpee, the one we will
cover today works the biceps, shoulders, legs, and chest.
- Demonstrate the burpee. “Flex at the top of

 Instruction

- Ask and answer any questions the students might have listening
10:07 regarding the burpee.
- The next movements we will cover are Deadlifts with
shrugs.
10:08 - This exercise works out the legs, back, and shoulders. “Straight backs,”
- Demonstrate the deadlift w/ shrug “bend at the hips,”
 Activity 2 All students performing “head up,” “weight
- Have the students perform the deadlift with shrug for 60 exercise for 60 seconds close to body,”

- This move works the legs and the triceps. “Dip down, leg out,”
- Demonstrate the dips w/ leg ext. All students performing “Leg in and push up”
 Activity 3 exercise for 60 seconds
10:12 - Have students perform the dips with leg extension move
for 60 seconds and then explain what muscle groups are
being worked and why. Semi- circle around me
10:13  Instruction (Time Permitting): listening
- Explain and demonstrate Front lunge lateral raise exercise “Knee behind toes,”
10:14 - This exercise works the legs and shoulders “bend at 90
- Demonstrate the Front Lunge Lateral Raise All students performing degrees,” “elbows
 Activity 3 movement for 60 seconds out and up”
- Have students perform the Front lunge lateral raise for 60
seconds and then explain the concepts and movements
behind muscles being worked.
 Transition:
- Have students put the dumbbells away.
 Instruction:
- Gather students in a semi-circle for closure
Lesson Closure: (Describe how you will tie the lesson
together and set up the next lesson.)
 What techniques did we cover today?
 When would you use these moves? What are their
advantages and disadvantages?
 Do you feel more confident about knowing which muscle
groups are being worked with different movements?
Explain:
 We now know 3 or 4 different compound exercises, what they
work, and when to use them.
 Our next lesson will cover a few more compound exercises
and how to include these into a circuit training routine.
 Be sure to write down in your journal about what you
learned, enjoyed, and disliked about today’s lesson

Evaluation / Assessment Procedures: (These assessment

procedures must tie directly to the lesson objectives for all
three previously described learning objectives. In other
words, how will you assess the psychomotor, cognitive, and
affective domain?)

Psychomotor Assessment Method:

 Teacher will be observing techniques as students
perform them.

Cognitive Assessment Method:

 Ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for
understanding.
 Students will explain technique and reasoning behind the
exercises.

Affective Assessment Method:

 Ask students questions during the closure to assess positive
attitude towards learning and meeting new people.
 Have students write a journal entry about what they learned,
enjoyed, and disliked about the day’s lesson.

Modifications: (Include a method and strategy to modify the

activity to include students with disabilities)
 This lesson can be taught very similarly if there was a
student in a wheelchair.
 I would need to make sure the student with a disability can
access the room.
 The student would not do the lunges and leg parts of the
movements, but would participate in the remaining
movements.

Alternate Activity: Describe what you will do in the event of

inclement weather or if your lesson is simply not working. (DO NOT
SIMPLY SAY YOU WILL MOVE TO THE GYM. CONSIDER THE
REALITY THAT YOU WILL LIKLEY BE SHARING THE GYM WITH
2-4 OTHER CLASSES.)
 Inclement weather will not be a problem as the lesson takes
place inside of a gym room. If the lesson simply is not
working, I would move on to a different topic such as
exercises to isolate muscle groups.
