I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners understand the relationship of a written text and the
context in which it was developed.
B. Performance Standard The learner writes a 1000-word critique of a selected text on the
basis of its claim/s, context, and properties as a written material.

B. Establishing a purpose for the Lest Communicate:
Lesson The teacher will let the student paired and used their dictionary to
find the meaning of the following words.

C. Presenting examples/instances of Let’s communicate:
the new lesson  The teacher will now discuss the what is an evaluative
statement. Using Evaluative statements to define strengths

practicing new skills #1 In 8 teams of 5, the teacher assigns a number per member of the
team. After having read and discussed the topic, the teacher
raises questions to be answered by a particular member of the
different teams. Coaching by the members is not allowed.
The following are the probable/sample questions:
Member 1. What is an evaluative statement?
Member 2. What is the difference between an evaluative
statement and a descriptive statement?
Member 3. Why is it important to evaluate statements in a text?
Member 4. Aside from the ones mentioned, give one more tip to
evaluate a statement?
Member 5. Give a sample evaluative statement of a given article
.
E. Discussing new concept and Gallery Walk:
practicing new skills # 2 Each team post on the wall of the classroom any short article, story
or excerpt from any reading material. Given a go signal by the
teacher, each team visits the gallery together, one story/article at
a time and jots down evaluative statements and possibly
supporting reasons on the big paper below the post/s. go around
as a team until the last post is visited.
In other words, it is expected to see a number of evaluative
statements under each article article noted by the different teams.
This time the team member/s per post will discuss and later be
reacted upon/discussed by the entire class.
F. Developing Mastery Task 3. Let’s think critically
Choose one from the sample articles and formulate evaluative
statements about it.
Article 1. Types of Memory

G. Finding practical application of Insight Sharing
concepts and skills in daily living 1.Have each student discuss his/her ideas with a partner.
2.Have each pair join another pair to expand their sharing?
3. Call on a few students to share their small group discussion.
H. Making generalizations and Digging Deeper
abstractions about the lesson 1. Have the students summarized what they have learned for
today’s lesson.
