Introduction
Hydraulic power, also called Fluid Power, is power
transmitted by the controlled circulation of pressurized fluid,
usually a water-soluble oil or water.
The science behind hydraulics is called Pascal's principle.
Essentially, because the liquid in the pipe is incompressible, the
pressure must stay constant all the way through it, even when
you're pushing it hard at one end or the other. Now pressure
is defined as the force acting per unit of area.
A mechanical arm is a machine that mimics the action of a
human arm. Mechanical arms can be as simple as tweezers or
as complex as prosthetic arms.
Hydraulic Robotic Arm is a system which coupled by
machines and hydraulic. It is widely applicable in all kinds of
large engineering equipment's .The arm system of the
redundant freedom, strong, nonlinear, coupled with rigid and
flexible characters.
Other examples of hydraulic systems include lifting
equipment, such as hydraulic jacks and wheelchair lifts, lifting
and excavating arms on backhoes and other heavy equipment,
hydraulic presses, which produce metal components,
and some parts of aircraft and boats, including wing flaps and
rudders
Methodology
Materials
 Cardboard
 Zip Ties
 Popsicle Sticks
 Round Sticks
 Tube
 Food Color (Optional)
 8 Syringes (Optional 25cc or 10cc)
 Water
 Old Battery
 Super glue
 Steel Cable or Paper Clips

Tools
 Cutters or a Pair of Scissors
 Ruler and Pencil
 Drill
 Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Procedures
 Draw the blueprints with the correct measurements of the
parts on the cardboard.
 Cut out the parts of the hydraulic arm.
 Drill holes on the designated part of the cut-outs.
 Assemble the hydraulic arm with the round sticks and steel
cables for the gripper.
 Prepare the syringes:
 Clip the extra plastic piece on top of the syringe as it can
cause unnecessary width
 Drill a hole around half a cm from the top of dia the size
of the toothpick. One out of the four syringes will have
two holes at the top.
 Get two zip ties and close them in the ''figure of eight''
shape. Tighten one loop around the syringe then slip in
a toothpick on the other one and tighten it till it bits
tightly, finally clip the extra bit of the zip tie.
 Assemble the syringes to the hydraulic arm
 Make the rotating platform.
 Cut 2 big squares and stick them together with the other
one on top with a glue gun.
 Drill a hole in the middle where in the battery can fit.
 Stick the battery in the hole with the superglue.
 Cut a small square and stick the hydraulic arm.
 Cut 4 rectangles that can fit in the gap of the hydraulic
arm.
 Stick the rectangles on top of each other and stick it
through the gap.
 Drill a hole through the rectangles and square in order
to insert it to the big square through the battery.
 Cut 4 smaller rectangles with the width of the popsicles
stick.
 Stick them on top of each other and on top of a
popsicles stick. Make sure that it has a hole so the
toothpick or round stick can come through.
 Insert the toothpick and syringe to the hole of the
popsicles stick.
 Stick another popsicles stick on top.
 Stick it to the hydraulic arm.
 Mix water with food color.
 Put the water in the 4 syringes.
 Insert a tube to the four syringes with water.
 Push the syringe until the water fills up the tube.
 Insert the tube to the other 4 syringes in the hydraulic arm.
 Make the controller
 Cut a big rectangle and 2 smaller ones with the same
length.
 Stick the smaller rectangles on top of the big one on one
side.
 Get the ends of two popsicles sticks on top of the
cardboard rectangles. Don’t forget to make holes on the
end of each.
 Insert the round sticks.
 For each lever:
 Make a tiny loop with the steel cable and stick it to
the cardboard.
 Get 2 popsicles sticks and drill holes in the middle.
 Cut out 3 small squares and stick them to the
popsicles sticks.
 Insert the toothpick or round stick in the middle with
the syringe.
 Insert the lever to the round stick.
 Use super glue to secure the round stick.
 Experiment
Benefits
 It has the ease and accuracy by which they can be
controlled.
 It provides energy transmission through the system which
enables work and motion to be accomplished.
 It uses materials that can be easily accessed or found.
 It is an excellent demonstration of a hydraulic power
system for both children and adults.
 It is a great product for anyone interested in STEM Fields.
 It can pick or get things in diff. purposes.
 When used in locomotive format, can be used in the
production and packaging field.
