Chapter I

Introduction

Binge Drinking is the most common pattern of alcohol consumption among high school

youths who drink alcohol. Is what we see today’s generation, many student where involve in

associated risk behavior like Binge Drinking or drinking alcoholic drinks. It isn’t good see student

engaging in drinking alcohol in there early age. So we decided to study Binge Drinking can get

risk behavior to the students.

Student who engage in Binge Drinking is must give concern by the parent and shall be

aware of what associated risk behavior you can get in Binge Drinking.

Indeed, young people engage in Binge Drinking Behaviors are at risk for many short - terms

physical arising.

General Objectives

This study aims to determine and explore the Binge Drinking and Associated

Health Risk Behavior among Grade 12 students in Raymundo T. Tongson National High School.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. Why some students drink alcoholic drinks?

2. What are the causes and effects of drinking alcoholic drinks?

3. How they engage in alcoholic drinks?

Significant Of the Study

Teacher. The findings of the study will give idea to the teachers on how they handle the

student’s behavior.

` Parents. The result of study will help the parents to guide their children and in order for

them to give advice for their children.

Students- the result of this study will give a warning to all students that there’s a

positive and negative effect of drinking alcoholic.

School- the result of this study will help the school to know how many student are

engaging in alcoholic drinks.

Scope and Delimitation of the study

This study focuses on the students of Grade 12 HUMSS (Humanities and Social

Sciences) and TVL (Technical Vocational Livelihood) of Raymundo T. Tongson National

High School, school year 2019 – 2020 at Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros

Occidental.

Definition of Terms

Binge. In this study binge refers to the

Risk- The possibility that something bad or unpleasant will happen.

Health- The condition of being well or free from disease.

Drinking is the act of ingesting water or other liquids into the body through

the mouth, proboscis, or elsewhere.

alcoholic drink is a drink that contains ethanol, a type of alcohol produced by

fermentation of grains, fruits, or other sources of sugar.

Risk behavior any consciously, or non-consciously controlled behavior with a

perceived uncertainty about its outcome, and/or about its possible benefits, or

costs for the physical, economic or psycho-social well-being of oneself or others.

Chapter II

Review Related Literature

COURTNEY, KELLY E; POLICH, and JHON (2013) Studied that Binge Drinking is an

increasingly important topic in alcohol research, but the field lacks empirical cohetion and

definitional precision. The present view summarizes findings and viewpoints from the scientific

binge – drinking literature. Epidemiological studies quantify the seriousness of alcohol – related

problems arising from Binge Drinking, With A growing incidence reported in college – age men

over the last two years.

Experimental studies have found neurocognitive deficits for frontal lobe processing and

working memory operations binge – drinking compared with non-binge alcohol drinkers. The

findings are organized with the goals of providing a useful binge – drinking definition in the

context of the empirical results.

MILLER and ROBERT D. (2013) examine the population based estimate of the source and

type of alcohol usually consumed by high school students in 4 (four) state and assessed their

relationship to drinking patterns.

ARCH (2016) studied to examine whether starting to drink at an early age is associated

with developing alcohol dependence at a younger age and chronic relapsing dependence,

controlling for respondents demographics, smoking and illicit drug use, childhood antisocial

behavior and depression, and family alcoholism history.

Chapter III

Locale of the study

This study was conducted at Raymundo T. Tongsong National High School which is

located at Baranggay Talaban Himamaylan City Negros Occidental under the division of

Himamaylan City.

Respondent of the study

The respondent of the study was Grade 12 student of Raymundo T. Tongson National

High School which is HUMSS and TVL specifically the 63 (sixty three) who are officially

enrolled school year 2019-2020.

Research Instrument

The standardized research instrument was use to gathered data on “Binge Dringking and

Associated Health risk Behavior among Grade 12 student” to determine the reason on

why they engage in alcoholic activities.

Data Gathering Instrument

Before conducting the study, the researcher make sure that all the suggestion and

recommendation of the panel member during Pre-oral were complied. The researcher

conducted the validation and reliability testiny of the test question. The researcher ask

permission from principle to informed the schedule of the conduct of the study. The leter of

permission was sent to the school where the study was conducted. After the completion of the

requirement needed the researcher then administered the conduct of the study to gathered

the data needed.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

Question 1.

Have you ever consumed alcohol?

The Table shows that Grade 12 students who have consumed alcohol is 46.27% (31) and
students who didn’t agreed is 53.73% (36).

In Question 2 respondents answer YES – 40.30% and NO – 59. 70%

In Question 3 respondents agreed in YES – 32.84% and respondents who say’s no is 67.16%

says NEVER is 49.28%.

This study aims to know the Grade 12 students of RAYMUNDO T TONGSONG
