During his childhood, going to the doctor or getting medical help was not a regular
occurance. “When I was a kid, I don’t really remember going to the doctor ever other than like
special occasions like a high school physical. We didn’t really diagnose that kind of thing back
then”. Mental health was not something many people talked about even just several years ago.
Susanna Schrobsdorf says, “Experts suspect that these [anxiety] statistics are on the low end of
what’s really happening, since many people do not seek help for anxiety and depression.”
I used this quote from my research to support the points made in my profile. I introduced
this quote by stating the author’s name. I cited my source more informally to match the format of
my profile. I chose to use a direct quote because I felt that the author used the best word choice
to describe her point. I used this quote as a way to support Patrick Funk’s point. He described
how mental illnesses, such as anxiety, were not discussed when he was a child. This quote
compliments what he has said because it shows that many people don’t understand that they have
anxiety. Even when people do experience anxiety, they often don’t know that they can receive
help or they don’t want help. This quote makes points that Funk was implying.

his personal life. He expressed that he experienced severe anxiety during his mission and when
he returned home. It was only after a significant amount of time after that he decided to get help
with his anxiety. This quote shows how many people don’t admit that they are experiencing
anxiety. These people don’t receive the help that they need. I chose to use the quote as I did
because it better supported the point that Funk was trying to make. If I were to place the quote
when he discusses his mission, it wouldn’t support the points that he was making. Rather, it
