Week 3

This week we will start the side pattern. We will crochet 14 rounds.

As you can see in the picture on page 22, the stitches in color E have formed an
arrow from the bottom to the side. I did not plan this, I was focusing on getting the
stitches in color C to line up. When Nelda finished this part, we saw the arrow. So
this is a happy coincidence.

Part 1 of the side

Because this pattern has color changes in the first round, it will be a bit harder to get
a crisp line between the bottom and the side, but as you can see in the picture below
it is possible.
Put your work on a flat surface after 10 stitches and before every color change. Push
the work in a 90 degrees angle and pull the yarns. Make sure you hold the last stitch
you made with a color when you pull that yarn. You don’t want to pull that stitch
smaller.

Working with the graph

How to read the graph

The graph on page 21 is rotated 90 degrees. I did this so the graph is as big as
possible. We want to able to
count the stitches, right?

Here you see the graph in

the right position.

You read the graph from right to left.

When you are left handed, please also read the graph from right to left. If you would
read the graph from left to right the jog will not look good.

Start crocheting at the bottom right of the graph, see the red arrow.
When you did 10 increases, repeat the right part of the graph 4 times. End the round
with the left part of the graph
When you did 12 increases, repeat the right part of the graph 5 times. End the round
with the left part of the graph.
