TRAINING-WORKSHOP FOR CAMPUS JOURNALISM ENTHUSIASTS


In Partnership with Deep Limits and Agila Productions

Theme: Empowering Students in Enhancing 21st Century Skills through Campus Journalism

I. STANDARD
1. Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship
 Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of social science
perspective and community action initiatives.
 Performance Standard: The learner shall be able to synthesize the integrative
experience of implementing community-action initiatives applying social sciences’
ideas and methods

2. Discipline and Ideas in Applied Social Sciences (Social Work Discipline)


 Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the discipline
of social work, the professionals and practitioners in social work, and its clientele
and audiences.
 Performance Standard: Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the basic
concepts of social work through a group presentation of a situation where
practitioners of social work collaborate to assist individuals, groups, or
communities involved in difficult situations
Note: In our class we decided to integrate Media and Information Literacy and
Digital Citizen through Campus Journalism

III. OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY


At the end of day, the students will be able
1. To meet their performance standards (speakers and organizers);
2. To familiarize with the different technicalities in writing and the use of advance
applications to help them enhance their skills in whichever field they excel.
3. To capacitate budding journalists to enhance their media literacy, creativity, and
digital citizenship through campus journalism;
4. To create pool of writers, photographers, editors, and lay out artists who will engage
in campus journalism activities;
5. To promote media literacy and campus journalism to the studentry;
6. To recruit new members of Agila Productions; and
7. To assess and identify students that have potential in different areas to be trained in
the following years.

VI. GUIDELINES OF THE ACTIVITY


A. Select students from different grade levels are encouraged to attend the
training/workshop which will be an assessment in selecting students to constitute the
pool of campus journalists.
B. The participants will be assigned to their respective groups, which they will know upon
arrival on the day of the training.
C. The participants are encouraged to bring their equipment (computer (optional), mobile
phone and camera (optional).
D. The training will be divided into different sessions the whole day which will have its own
workshop after each session. Every participants are highly encouraged to participate and
do the said workshop. Selection for best outputs will be done after each workshops and
will be announced on the closing program.
E. The participants are encouraged to bring their pack lunch and snacks since the activity
will utilize working breaks due to time constraint.
F. No output, means no certificate.
G. Select students by the person-in-charge will automatically be part of Agila Production
Technical Support, which must be on-call whenever needed at any event which will
serve as well as training to enhance their skills more.
