Preliminary Findings
Strengths: The student is an extremely bright and energetic individual. She is extremely kind
and bubbly. She does not have a fear of being herself and is confident at all times. When asked
how she would feel if her classmates called her a bad reader, she responded with that it would
not matter. She said that other people can make fun of you all they want but it is all about how
you feel about yourself. The student also expressed that she feels as if she is a good reader but is
also much better at math.

Areas for Improvement: As the student expressed that she believes she is a good reader, she
mentioned that she does not like reading aloud. She said that she does not like reading out loud
when she is not ready for it. She also stated that although she does not mind reading, she can
never find a book that she likes. This is an area to improve upon because finding a good area of
interest could inspire her to read more and thus inspire better reading skills.

Family and Home Life: The student of interest is one in a family of four. She lives with her
mother father, and brother. Her brother is now sixteen and attends Alliance High School.
Student X says that she has lived in Alliance “forever” and was able to make friends in her
classes starting in kindergarten. The student stated that her and her brother often fight because of
their age gap but also that he is her best friend. Her and her brother share a bedroom at home,
and she said he often goes to bed much later than herself. The student also often spends time
with her grandparents who live in the area. She stated that her grandma often makes dinner for
her whole family and that they go over to that house for a majority of their meals.

Interests: The student has a wide variety of interests. She loves to ride her bike in the months in
which it is nice as well as go to the pool. When the weather is not warm or sunny, she likes to
stay inside and either watch movies on Netflix or play games on her tablet. The student’s favorite
food is sushi but her least favorite food is lobster. If she could eat one play forever, it would be
the China Buffet because, “It has everything you could want in one place and it’s all delicious.”
The students loves to draw and color. She stated that she likes to paint but it is often too messy
for her to do at home.
