Moved by the spirit to help the low income group and improve the quality of life in
Malandog, Hamtic, the Family Lifers Multi-Purpose Cooperative was born. Nineteen
pioneer Family Life Apostolate members gathered and raised P2, 750.00-inital capital. On
December 26, 1991, the newborn coop was granted permit to operate by the Cooperative
Development Authority under the Registration ILO-765. Its starting operation was manned
by a bookkeeper at P100.00 a month pay and a storekeeper who was paid on a commissions
basis. The overall operations were supervised by the Board of Directors who meets
regularly every month to evaluate, plan & discuss the needs & requirements of the
organization. It took only a year before Family Lifers Multi-Purpose Cooperative gained
support from the residents of the barangay.
Presently the cooperative is serving two municipalities covering six barangays. Its
business, savings and credit are accommodated in its office located at barangay Malandog,
Hamtic, Antique and handled by a work force of six competent and permanent employees.
Operations were now in a professional manner as the cooperative adopted the banking
system through computerized data banking and transaction flows.
Now on its 25th year of existence, Family Lifers has a total membership of 1,189
active members and 713 special depositors. Paid up capital now records P9.96M, Savings &
Time Deposits of P14M and Assets of P29.8M. Ten years onward, Family Lifers envisions
on uplifting the economic, social and spiritual life of its members and the community in
