Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Any students in the classroom who are visual learners or English learners will benefit from using BrainPop.
The students can find pictures, articles, or even movies to help them with their research. If a student is
struggling to understand the English versions of the articles, etc. then they will be able to switch the website
into their language and be able to understand the information better. If the students need to take the paper
home to work on, they will also be able to do so.

Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher will introduce the pros and cons of healthy eating versus exercising. The teacher will let the
students know that they are about to do a research based paper/project. The teacher and students will create

a list of the pros and cons of healthy eating versus exercise. Once the list has been made, the students will
then decide which side they agree with more. Once the students do that, they will be going onto BrainPop to
read the articles and gain information and knowledge as to why they chose the opposing side.
The paper the students will be writing will include an introduction, three reasons as to why they picked
the opposing side, three examples to go with the reasons, and their conclusions. Once the students have
done their research and have their paper wrote, they will be putting the information into a PowerPoint. Once
the PowerPoint is created and finished, it will be uploaded to the classroom blog to share with everyone.
Reflective Practice:
After putting this lesson together, I think the students will enjoy the two topics they are able to research
about. Giving the students a choice on which one they agree with more will enhance their learning and allow
them to further educate themselves. To further extend this lesson, I could have to the students work together
and form two groups. One group that agrees with the exercising, and the other group that agrees with
exercising. The students in each group could come together and see what information they had collected.
From there, they could make a new presentation with the best information on it.
