Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

I would address UDL principles by allowing students to have choice within their presentation. They will have
guidelines of at least 1 formal assessment and 7 or 8 activities within their Nearpod. The Nearpod can reach
out to students by visual and auditory representations in the lessons. There can be videos that are shown, as
well as images representing certain things.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students are going to be in groups and create their own Nearpod presentation to present to their peers. This
project will be introduced by the teacher navigating through the Nearpod website, then showing them an
example of a completed Nearpod. This project will most likely take two class periods to have students get into
groups and find information about their topic, then create their presentation and finally present it to the
class. Students will be assessed through their own peers’ presentations. In each presentation, there will be at
least 1 formal assessment (quiz) and the rest of the activities can be chosen based on student choice. As an
assessment, students will need to follow the guidelines of including 1 formal quiz and 7 to 8 activities within
their presentation. Students are going do a lesson on analyzing influences whether it be about peers, family,
culture, media, technology or other factors.
The final product of the Nearpod will be used a form of assessment. Students are to present to the class their
product and have their peers go through the interactive lesson. The final product will be used for students to
have the ability to create their own lesson for their peers to learn/ participate in. In order to extend the
student learning, students are going to have a google form for every group that presents including questions
evaluating their presentation. After every group goes, students will evaluate their peers through google
forms. To conclude the lesson, students will need to fill out a 3-2-1 ticket out of the door. 3 new things they
learned from other presentation, 2 things that would improve on if they would present this topic again, and 1

question that they might still have regarding the content/skill presented. By having students peer evaluate
each other, they will get feedback from one another and then another evaluation from the teach based on
their presentation.

Reflective Practice:
I believe that this activity would increase student engagement by having students peer teach. Instead of
teacher-directed, this will be student-directed. This activity allows students to create their own lesson and
activities that they believe will be the most engaging for their peers, but also informative for them. The
google forms within the lesson give students the ability to evaluate and peer assess their classmates. This
makes it easy to get feedback for students to know how they could improve on the next lesson, and what
they did well. To extend the lesson, students can take a formal assessment given by the teacher based off of
everyone’s presentations.
