Bag is 10" x 11" not including Handles.
Belt is 1 3⁄4" wide x 38 1⁄2" long not
including Fringe.
MATERIALS
800 yds. ecru cotton sport yarn;
Two 7" brass rings; Assorted
decorative beads; Tapestry needle;
F crochet hook or hook size
needed to obtain gauge
GAUGE
4 sts = 1"; 2 dc rows = 1"; 4 sc rows,
3 dc rows and one cl row worked
in Belt pattern = 4".

Ch, sl st, sc, dc, dtr
SPECIAL STITCH
For cluster (cl), yo 2 times, insert hook
in next st, yo, pull lp through, (yo,
pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times,
*yo 2 times, insert hook in same st,

Rnd 1: Starting at handle, join with sc
around one brass ring (see illustra-

Holding Sides right sides together,

FRINGE
For each Fringe, cut two strands each
24" long. Holding both pieces to-
gether, fold in half, insert hook from
back to front in first ch sp of row 7,
pull fold through, pull loose ends
through fold, tighten. Trim ends.
Fringe in each ch sp on both sides of
Bag.
BEADS
First Row of Beads
1: On this row, you will separate each
Fringe into two sections with two
strands of yarn in each section.
Use pony beads on Fringe unless
otherwise stated (see illustration).
BEADED FRINGE
First row

2: Skip first two strands of first Fringe,
hold other two strands from first
Fringe and first two strands from
next Fringe together, thread one
bead onto all four strands about 3⁄4"
below knot of Fringe.
3: (Holding other two strands from
same Fringe and first two strands
from next Fringe together; thread
one bead onto all four strands about
3⁄4" below knot of Fringe) 6 times.
4: Skip next two strands from same
 Fringe and first two strands from
next Fringe. Keep all four skipped
strands separated from other
strands until later. This will form the
Center Beaded Section.
5: Repeat step 3 across remaining
strands.
Second Row of Beads
1: Holding two loose strands from first
Fringe and first two strands below
first bead together; thread one
bead onto all four strands about 3⁄4"
below First Row of Beads (see
illustration).

one bead onto all four strands. Tie
the four strands plus the first two
loose strands into a knot below
bead to secure (see illustration).

BELT

Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as first dtr), skip
next 2 sts, (cl, ch 5, cl) in next st,
skip next 2 sts, dtr in last st, turn. (2

Row 4: Ch 1, skip first st, sc in top of
next cl, sc in next 5 chs, sc in top of
next cl leaving last st unworked,

Rows 11–77: Repeat rows 3–10 con-

Row 78: Ch 6, skip next 5 sts, sl st in
last st. Fasten off.
FRINGE
For each Fringe, cut 10 strands each
36" long. Holding all strands togeth-
er, fold in half, insert hook in ch sp
on end of Belt, pull fold through, pull
loose ends through fold, tighten.
Repeat on other end of Belt.
Attach beads to several strands
of each Fringe as desired; tie strand
in knot below beads to secure.
