CHAPTER- I

1. Objective and Purpose

1.1. The Objective of Zenith is to select the best candidates amongst the participants to
represent Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad in National Level External Moot Court
Competitions
1.2. The Purpose of Zenith is:
1.2.1.To give participants an experience of simulation exercise to further enhance
their research, drafting and argumentative skills.
1.2.2.To provide a platform to the students to participate in National Level Moot
Court Competitions.
1.2.3.To give Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad visibility by winning Moot Court
Competitions.

2. Hosting of Zenith and Moot Proposition

2.1. Zenith may be hosted annually by the Moot Court Association (MCA) of Symbiosis
Law School, Hyderabad, preferably in the month of March in order to provide the
participants an opportunity to represent the college in National Level Moot Court
Competitions in the following Academic year; provided with the prior permission of
the Ex- Officio Chairperson.
2.2. Hosting of Zenith shall be continued in the subsequent years at the discretion of the
Ex- Officio Chairperson.
2.3. The Moot Proposition for Zenith shall be released atleast one and half (1 ½) months
prior to the competition date, as decided by the Moot Court Association.
2.4. Confidentiality of the source/ drafter of the Moot Proposition shall be maintained by
the Faculty In-Charge, Moot Court Association.

CHAPTER- II

3. Qualification and Eligibility

3.1. The participant shall be a bonafide student of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.
The participant shall have atleast appeared for the First (1st) Semester Examination
conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune;
3.2. A student with a year down and who has not cleared the first three semester
examination conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune is not
eligible to register for Zenith 2019;
3.3. A student with Two (2) TNG’s in the previous semesters is not eligible to register for
Zenith 2019.
3.4. The participation of a student in Zenith 2019 shall be irrespective of whether they
have participated in the previous editions of Zenith; however subject to Clauses 3.1-
3.3.

4. Registration Procedure

4.1. The participants to Zenith 2019 shall register for the competition in accordance to the
following procedure laid down, as follows:
4.1.1.The participants are required to register as a team of three (3), hereinafter
referred to as ‘Team’; and
4.1.2.The team shall register by submission of a duly filled form in the prescribed
manner as per Annexure ZR- 1, hereinafter referred to as ‘Zenith 2019
Registration Form’; and
4.1.3.The member composition of the Team shall be at the discretion of the
individual participants; and
4.1.4.The Team shall assign the roles of Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and Researcher, at
their own discretion and unanimously before the submission of the Zenith 2019
Registration Form; and
4.1.5.The Zenith 2019 Registration Form as per Annexure ZR- 1, is required to be
submitted on or before the declared date, to the Moot Court Association in the
declared manner; and
4.1.6.On lapse of the timeline, under no circumstances shall late submission of
registration forms be entertained. Moreover, no discretion with regard to
acceptance of Zenith 2019 Registration Forms shall be exercised.
4.2. On receipt of the Zenith 2019 Registration Form in the prescribed manner, the Moot
Court Association shall allot and declare a unique team identification code, hereinafter
referred to as ‘Team Code’.
4.3. The participation of a team in Zenith 2019 is deemed to be confirmed on receipt of the
Zenith 2019 Registration Form and Allotment of a Team Code.

4.4. It is assumed that the participants are aware of their team members and the
consequences of breaking their team post Zenith 2019, which may include but is not
limited to non-allotment of an external moot court competition during the academic
year. The Moot Court Association shall in no way be held responsible for the same nor
can they be compelled to provide the individual participants a new team/ competition
subsequent to the breaking of the teams.

5. Revocation of Registration

5.1. A team may revoke from participating in Zenith 2019 by submission of a duly filled
form in the prescribed manner as per Annexure ZR- 2, hereinafter referred to as
‘Zenith 2019 Withdrawal Form’; and
5.2. The team shall submit the Zenith 2019 Withdrawal Form on or before the declared
date, to the Moot Court Association in the declared manner; and
5.3. On lapse of such timeline as per Clause 5.2, a team cannot revoke their participation
from Zenith 2019.
5.4. Further to Clause 5.3, on failure to submit Written Pleadings and Arguments and/or
failure to partake in Oral Pleadings, the team shall be treated as a ‘Defaulter’. Further,
action shall be taken against such a team under the Zenith 2019 4th Internal Moot Court
Competition Rules and Regulations.

6. Draw of Lots

6.1. A chart is prepared by the Moot Court Association that includes the time slots and
court room number, hereinafter referred to as ‘Draw of Lots Chart’
6.2. The Draw of Lots Chart is divided into slots that fix the side a team pleads and time of
the session, which is determined by ‘Draw of Lots’.
6.3. The Moot Court Association shall conduct the Draw of Lots one day prior to Zenith
2019, for which the procedure is as follows:
6.3.1.Chits with team code of all teams shall be drawn at random by the Faculty In-
Charge or any other person as decided by the Faculty In- Charge; and
6.3.2.Every first team code drawn will be the Petitioner/ Plaintiff and the second
team code drawn will be the Respondent/ Defendant; and
6.3.3.In order of the team codes being drawn, each slot corresponding to time
sessions will be filled in order; and
6.4. The decision pertaining to which team pleads which side and during which session is
solely dependent on Draw of Lots and the outcome of the same is final and binding.
6.5. No request to change the side or time session shall be entertained. However, the
Faculty In-Charge reserves the right to entertain such request and allow the same,
under extreme circumstances and urgencies.
7. Judges

7.1. The Moot Court Association shall strive hard to nominate an impartial judge/ judges to
evaluate the written submissions for the competition in accordance to Annexure ZR- 3

Part- A.
7.2. The Moot Court Association shall strive hard to nominate impartial judges from the
industry, courts or academia, who is qualified and competent to adjudge teams on the
criteria for judging as per Annexure ZR- 3 Part- B.
7.3. The final list of judges shall be finalised by the Moot Court Association in concurrence
with the Ex- Officio Chairperson.
7.4. Confidentiality regarding the final list of judges invited to adjudge the rounds shall be
maintained by the Faculty In-Charge.

8. Dress Code

8.1. The official dress code for the Competition that shall be strictly adhered to by the
participants, is as follows:
8.1.1. Ladies: Black Trousers and Formal White Shirt (OR) Black Salwar and White
Kurti; and Black Blazer; and Formal Black Shoes.
8.1.2. Men: Black Trousers and Formal White Shirt; and College Tie; and Black
Blazer; and Formal Black Shoes.
8.2. On registration, the team is deemed to have been aware of the official dress code. The
Moot Court Association reserves the right to bar any participant on account of non-
adherence of the same.

9. Written Pleadings and Submission

9.1. The team is required to submit written pleadings, hereinafter referred to as


‘Memorials’, adhering to the following conditions:
9.1.1.The team is required to submit three (3) copies of the Memorials each from
both sides, namely; Plaintiff/ Petitioner/ Appellant and Defendant/ Respondent,
and in the prescribed format as per Annexure ZR- 4.
9.1.2.The Memorials shall be addressed to the respective court of competent
jurisdiction.
9.1.3.The colour of the cover page shall be as follows:
Plaintiff/ Petitioner/ Appellant- BLUE
Defendant/ Respondent- RED
9.1.4.Memorials shall not be spiral bound or carry any plastic cover on the front
and/or back covers. It shall only be stapled along the length of the Memorials.
9.1.5.The following conditions regarding the formatting of the Memorials are to be
strictly adhered to:
9.1.5.1. Formatting of Cover Page:
The Team Code shall be mentioned on top of the page at the extreme
right hand side; and
Font Style- Times New Roman; and
Font Size- 12 point.

9.1.5.2. Formatting of Body Content:
Margin- 2.54cm on all sides (Normal Margin)
Font Style- Times New Roman; and
Font Size- 12 point; and
Line Spacing- 1.5 point
Alignment- Justified
9.1.5.3. Formatting of Footnotes:
Citation- 20th Edition Bluebook Method
Font Style- Times New Roman; and
Font Size- 12 point; and
Line Spacing- 1 point
Alignment- Justified
9.1.6.The page limit for Arguments Advanced is 20 pages. A team that exceeds
the specified page limit shall be liable to a penalty of deduction. The format to
be followed while preparing the memorials would be as prescribed under
Annexure ZR- 4, hereinafter referred to as ‘Format of Memorial’.
9.1.7.No name, sign or indication shall be made by the teams anywhere in the
Memorials. In case such a sign is observed, at any stage, would lead to
disqualification of the team from Oral Pleadings and/ or from participating in
National Level National Moot Competitions.
9.1.8.Each team shall take reasonable measures in maintaining confidentiality in
relation to research and Memorials. If any content is found to be copied, wholly
or in part, both teams would be disqualified undisputedly and would be banned
from participating in National Level Moot Court Competitions, and as per
Section 10.
9.1.9.No material shall be used, while drafting memorials, without citing sources. If
any such material is found to be used, it would result in serious disciplinary
action and/or may further result in permanently debarring the team from
participating subsequent editions of Zenith.
9.1.10. The team shall submit the Memorials on the date as specified by the Moot
Court Association. No excuses for extension of time or delayed submission,
such as rush or queue at the stationary shop, non- availability of coloured paper,
insufficient print or paper, or any other excuse, shall be entertained even on
disclosure of credible evidence.
9.2. If a team does not submit the Memorials as per Clause 9.1, then such a team would be
debarred from participating in any National Level External Moot Court Competitions,
in the following academic year.
9.3. The Memorials submitted will be evaluated by a Judge as per Clause 7.1, according to
the prescribed criteria as per Annexure ZR- 3 Part- A and Section 10.

10.1. In furtherance to Clause 9.1.8, if any other form of plagiarism is found with respect to
the Memorials or Oral Pleadings, punishment for the same shall include and not limited
to instant disqualification of the team, barring the team from participating in subsequent
editions of Zenith, at the discretion of the Faculty In-Charge.

11. Oral Pleadings

11.1. The team shall plead their side as determined by Draw of Lots as per Section 6, on
the day of the competition as decided and declared by the Moot Court Association,
hereinafter referred to as ‘Oral Pleadings’.
11.2. The team is required to be present for the Oral Pleadings atleast 20 minutes prior to
the scheduled time as determined by the Draw of Lots as per Section 6 and in the
prescribed Dress Code as per Section 8.
11.3. Failure of a team to comply with Clause 11.2 shall result in strict action taken
against the team which shall not be limited to debarring the team from participating in
the National Level Moot Court Competitions in the following academic year.
11.4. A team shall plead only once before the Bench, against the other team by adhering
to the following standards:
11.4.1. The team is required to follow etiquettes and court mannerism and conduct
themselves professionally during the session, to maintain the decorum of the
courtroom.
11.4.2. The court room is manned by judges, one courtroom master, and one time
keeper.
11.4.3. The Courtroom Master shall handle all the transactions in a courtroom
relating to the Memorials, compendium, or any other reference material to be
given to the judges. The courtroom master shall also maintain the decorum of
the courtroom.
11.4.4. The Time Keeper shall keep a check on the allotted time of each speaker.
The total time provided for Oral Pleadings is Twenty (20) minutes per team.
The division of the allotted time between the speakers will be at the discretion of
the team. An additional of Two (2) minutes is reserved for Rebuttal and Sur-rebuttal
each.
11.4.5. The team may exceed the allotted time only with the prior leave of the
judge. However, a maximum of Five (5) minutes may be granted to each team,
time inclusive for questions and answers.
11.4.6. The judge has complete liberty to ask as many questions and no objection,
to the same, shall be entertained.
11.4.7. The researcher may pass chits directly to the speaker but without disturbing
the decorum of the courtroom. However, to pass the compendium, submissions,
or any other reference material to the judge(s), the researcher and/or speaker
may do so only through the courtroom master.
11.5. Any violation of Clause 11.4 shall result in strict action taken against the team which
shall not be limited to debarring the team from participating in the National Level
Moot Court Competitions in the following academic year.

11.6. The judge shall adjudge each speaker and the performance of the speaker shall be
based on the set of pre-decided criterion as prescribed in Annexure ZR- 3 Part- B. The
marking as provided by the judge shall be final and shall remain undisputable,
whatsoever be the nature.
11.7. On completion of the pleadings, rebuttal and sur-rebuttal, the teams may leave the
courtroom with the permission of the judges.
11.8. The team shall not contact or attempt to contact the judges immediately after the
round for feedback or questions, directly or indirectly. However, if the team wishes to
seek feedback or a discussion session with the judge, the team may contact the judge
after the completion of all sessions.
12. Researcher’s Test

12.1. Zenith 2019 will showcase the first Researcher’s Test, which will be a written test,
to be held one day prior to the moot court competition.
12.2. Researchers are expected to be seated at the venue of the test 30 minutes prior to
commencement. Failing which it is deemed that the Researcher has withdrawn
participation and accordingly will be marked zero (0).
12.3. The marking as provided by the judge shall be final and shall remain undisputable,
whatsoever be the nature.
13. Declaration of Results and Ranking

13.1. The Moot Court Association shall declare the Final result of the competition, within
a reasonable time from the date of the competition. The final result shall be the
aggregate of the Memorial Marks, Researcher’s Test Marks and Oral Pleadings, as
marked by the judges.
13.2. Further to the declaration of the results, the Moot Court Association shall release
the ranking of all teams, hereinafter referred to as ‘Zenith Merit- 2019’.
13.3. The Zenith Merit shall be published in a two-fold manner; as follows:
13.3.1. It shall display the rank of the team in their respective Court Room, hereinafter
referred to as ‘Court Room Ranking’. This would determine the position of the
team in the court room with respect to all the teams that had given their Oral
Pleadings in that respective Court Room. The Court Room Ranking will be
calculated as an aggregate of the Oral Pleadings Marks and Memorial Marks in
a 60:40 ratio respectively.
13.3.2. On determination of the Court Room Ranking, all teams obtaining the same
rank, in their respective court rooms, shall have their overall rank determined
by comparing their respective Researcher’s Test Marks. This overall rank shall
hereinafter be referred to as ‘Absolute Rank’.
13.4. The Absolute Rank of the Zenith Merit shall highlight the Top 75 teams who shall
be eligible to partake in the Bidding Process to avail the opportunity to participate in
an External National Level Moot Court Competition in the following academic year.

CHAPTER- III

14. Allotment of National Level Moot Court Competitions

14.1. The Moot Court Association shall allot National Level Moot Court Competitions to
teams solely based on the Zenith Merit that includes the Top 75 meritorious teams in
Zenith 2019. The number of teams may however be extended at the discretion of the
Moot Court Association
14.2. The allotment of the National Level Moot Court Competitions shall be conducted
by the bidding method, hereinafter referred to as ‘Bidding Process’, which shall be as
follows:
14.2.1. The Moot Court Association shall publish the details of the competitions
taken for bidding, hereinafter referred to as ‘Bid List’, on Curiosity
(slshyd.curiositylive.com) or as a Bulkmail, as it deems fit. The Bid List shall
include the details of the competition such as the dates of the competition,
registration date, and memorial submission date, as well as the Venue and Date,
and Time of the Bidding Process.
14.2.2. The team is bound to go through the Moot Proposition and Rules and/or any
other relevant detail of the competition before bidding for the same.
14.2.3. Team interested in any/ all the competitions in the Bid List shall be present
at the respective venue and time.
14.2.4. The bidding process commences in the serial order of the competitions in
the bid list. The respective competition shall be called by the Member of the
Moot Court Association, wherein the interested team shall write their bid,
hereinafter referred to as ‘Bid Chit’.
14.2.5. The team shall strictly adhere to the required details in the Bid Chit; namely:
 Serial Number of Competition as in the Bid List
 Team Code as allotted for the 4th Zenith- Internal Moot Court
Competition
 Team Rank as obtained and published in the Zenith Merit- 2019
14.2.6. The bid chits are collected by the Members of the Moot Court Association,
and the details of the bid chit are cross-verified with the Zenith Merit.
14.2.7. On verification of the details, the team with the highest rank gets allotted the
respective National Level Moot Court Competition.
14.3. Further to Clause 14.2, all three team members must be physically present at the
Venue of the bidding.
14.4. The bidding process shall be strictly solely based on merit as per the Zenith Merit and
no other consideration shall be given to any team.

15. Post Allotment of National Level Moot Court Competition Procedure

15.1. Team allotted a National of National Level Moot Court Competition shall be bound

by the TNG/CNG Policy of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, with
prospective effect. No exemption, whatsoever, shall be granted to such students for
either preparation or participation in the National Level Moot Court Competition. The
participation of the team in the National Level Moot Court Competition shall be
subject to a minimum of 75% attendance at the time of allotment of the National Level
Moot Court Competition.
15.2. The team allotted the National Level Moot Court Competition shall duly fill the
confirmation and undertaking form, hereinafter referred to as ‘External Moot Court
Registration Form and Undertaking’, as per Annexure ZR- 5. The team submission of
this duly filled form would be indicative that the team is wholly aware and understand
the Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune Policy regarding attendance
and shall scrupulously be bound and follow the same.
15.3. A copy of the External Moot Court Registration Form and Undertaking shall be kept
in the ‘Outbox’ in the Moot Court Association Cell Room, which shall be collected by
the team. The copy of the External Moot Court Registration Form and Undertaking
shall serve as a token of permission to the team for further formalities and procedure to
be completed as required by the college hosting the National Level Moot Court
Competition, hereinafter referred to as ‘Host College’.
15.4. Team allotted the National Level Moot Court Competition shall strictly adhere to
the following rules and conditions:
15.4.1. The team shall be solely responsible and shall take due care to follow the
timelines for registration, memorial submission, and any other formality as
declared by the Host College.
15.4.2. The team members shall comply with all requirements concerning
preparation of demand draft, ticket booking, accommodation, food, and/ or any
other requirement and the same shall be reimbursed by Symbiosis Law School,
Hyderabad in concurrence to the binding policy of Symbiosis International
(Deemed University), Pune.
15.4.3. Teams shall communicate with the Host College directly unless otherwise
required to be done so through the Official ID of the Moot Court Association.
However, it is mandatory that the official ID of the Moot Court Association is
marked in all mails being sent to the Host College.The team or either member
of the team shall not participate in any other even organised by Symbiosis Law
School, Hyderabad and/ or any other institute, from the date of allotment of the
National Level Moot Court Competition till the participation in the National
Level Moot Court Competition. However, members of the team may publish
papers or attend conferences/ seminars, provided such participation does not
distress the preparation for the National Level Moot Court Competition.
15.4.4. The team shall work with integrity and strive hard in their preparation for
the National Level Moot Court Competition. The team may seek professional
advice from personalities in the field to enhance their preparation.
15.4.5. The team shall be bound by the Rules and Regulations and/ or any other
governing system of the Host College, from the date of allotment of the
National Level Moot Court Competition till the participation in the National

Level Moot Court Competition. Violation of the any rule and regulation and/or
governing system of the Host College, shall result, in but not limited, to instant
disqualification of the team and/ or debarment of the team from subsequent
editions of Zenith.
15.5. Further to Clause 14.3, the team shall strictly adhere to the Memorial evaluation
process, hereinafter referred to as the ‘Memorial Review’, as follows:
15.5.1. TWO (2) WEEKS prior to the Memorial submission to the Host College, the
team shall submit their complete memorials to the Moot Court Association for
the memorial review to mca.memorials@slsh.edu.in on or before 5pm on the
scheduled date. In case of any delay in submission of the memorials, the
memorials will be sent to the reviewer only during working hours, the
following day.
15.5.2. The Memorials submitted to the MCA should be complete and include all
ancillary and other pages, and not just the Arguments Advanced. In case of
any incomplete memorial(s) submitted to the MCA, the same shall not be sent
for review unless the complete memorial is submitted.
15.5.3. The memorial shall be evaluated by efficient Faculty/ Student Mentor(s)
appointed by the Moot Court Association. The Faculty/ Student Mentor shall
fill a review form, hereinafter referred to as ‘Memorial Review Form’ as per
Annexure ZR- 6, stating the necessary changes and the overall impression of
the Memorials, submitted to the Moot Court Association.
15.5.4. The evaluated memorial, by the Faculty/ Student mentor(s), hereinafter referred
to as ‘Reviewed Memorials’ shall be forwarded to the team where the
suggested changes and improvements shall be incorporated.
15.5.5. Three (3) reviews by the Faculty/ Student mentor(s) are mandatory before the
final review and submission to the Host College and shall be conducted as per
Clauses 14.4.2 and 14.4.3.
15.5.6. All memorials are to be submitted to the MCA before the end of any given
working day, i.e. 5:00 pm on respective dates, failing which the memorial
review process shall be extended by One(1) day. The MCA shall not be
responsible for any delay caused by the same.
15.5.7. On receipt of the final review and feedback of the Faculty/ Student mentor(s),
the team may be allowed to participate in the National Level Moot Court
Competition, on consultation with the Faculty In-Charge, provided that all
suggested changes by the Faculty/ Student mentor(s) are incorporated and the
final memorials are fit to be sent to the Host College.
15.5.8. Such notice of participation shall be communicated by the MCA via email
at any point of time before submission to the host college.
15.5.9. Such decision shall be taken by the faculty in charge after taking due care to
review the memorials and cross verify the comments of the reviewers with the
final memorials. Accordingly, the decision taken by the faculty in charge shall
be final and binding. No appeal to the same shall be entertained.
15.6. The team on adherence to Clause 14.4, shall plead before the Faculty and/ or
Student mentor(s), hereinafter referred to as ‘Oral Pleading Evaluation’, as follows:
15.6.1. One (1) week prior to the date of the National Level Moot Court

Competition, the team shall give their Oral Pleading Evaluation before the
Faculty and/or Student mentor(s).
15.6.2. The mentor(s) shall duly fill the evaluation form, hereinafter referred to as
‘Oral Pleading Evaluation Form’, stating the oral pleading performance of the
team, submitted to the Moot Court Association, in the format as prescribed
under Annexure ZR- 7.
15.6.3. Three (3) sessions for Oral Pleading is recommended and mandated by the
Moot Court Association, for the team before their mentor(s).
15.7. Any act or omission, on the part of the team, leading to non-fulfillment of any of
the requirements as per Clause 14.1- 14.6, shall result in, but not limited to, instant
disqualification of the team and/ or debarment of the team from subsequent editions of
Zenith. Further, the defaulting team shall not be entitled to reimbursement from
Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.
15.8. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Zenith 2019 4th Internal Moot Court
Competition Rules and Regulations or any promise made by any authorities, no faculty
or staff member shall accompany a team to the allotted National Level Moot Court
Competition under any circumstance.

16. Rights Over Memorials


16.1. The Moot Court Association reserves the right to publish and disseminate
memorials submitted to and for the Moot. The Memorials shall be attributed to the
relevant participants during such publication and dissemination. Submission of
memorials in this Moot shall constitute consent to such publication and dissemination.
16.2. The Moot Court Association also reserves the right to use the memorials submitted
for any other purpose they may deem fit while ensuring appropriate attribution.

17. Indemnity and Undertaking

17.1. Further to Clause 14.2 the team allotted the National Moot Court Competition shall
duly fill the Undertaking along with the External Moot Registration Form as
prescribed in Annexure ZR- 5. The submission of the Undertaking by the team is
mandatory and further indemnifies the college under any circumstance relating to
damage caused to the institute property including but not limited to books, stationary
and other material issued by the team.

18. Industry and Student Mentor(s)

18.1. Further to Clauses 14.4.2 and 14.5.1 the team may also contact any other proficient
personality in the legal field including academia, practicing advocate, and/ or in the
corporate field for guidance to enhance the team preparation of memorials and oral
pleadings for the National Level Moot Court Competition.
18.2. The team may contact any resource person as per Clause 16.1 but such contact shall

not disturb the Post Allotment of National Level Moot Court Competition Procedure
as prescribed and defined by the Moot Court Association under Section 14.

19. Post Participation in National Level Moot Court Competition

19.1. The team on return to Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad after participation in
the National Level Moot Court Competition, shall strictly adhere to the following
standards:
19.1.1. Regarding the evaluation of the moot performance, enumerated as
follows:
19.1.1.1. Within four (4) days on return to Symbiosis Law School,
Hyderabad the team shall meet the Faculty In-Charge of the Moot
Court Association for a session on the experience and knowledge
gained from the competition by the team, hereinafter referred to as
‘Moot Performance Evaluation’.
19.1.1.2. The Faculty In-Charge shall duly fill a form, with the input from
the team as prescribed under Annexure ZR- 8, hereinafter referred to
as ‘Moot Performance Evaluation Form’.
19.1.2. Regarding Attendance
19.1.2.1. The team shall be entitled to claim attendance for a total of
10 days including preparatory leave, days for travel and the days of
the competition.
19.1.2.2. On compliance with Clause 17.1.1, the team shall duly fill
the form to claim attendance before the Faculty In-Charge of the
Moot Court Association, in the prescribed manner as provided under
Annexure ZR- 9, hereinafter referred to as ‘Attendance Claim
Form’.
19.1.3. The team shall collect the duly signed Moot Performance Evaluation Form
and Attendance Claim Form from the Faculty In-Charge to take a copy of the
same for the reimbursement process. The team shall return the original Moot
Performance Evaluation Form along with the copies of the certificates of
participation and achievement (if any).
19.1.4. The team shall not be entitled to reimbursement on failure to comply with
Clauses 19.1.1. – 19.1.3.

20. Claim of Reimbursement Procedure

20.1. The team having duly represented Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad in National
Level Moot Court Competitions, on return may claim reimbursement in accordance to
the Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune Policy.
20.2. Further to Clause 18.1, the team may claim reimbursement in Symbiosis Law
School, Hyderabad. The team shall fill the reimbursement form from the Accountant,

Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad and attach the following forms and documents, as
follows:
 Copy of the External Moot Court Registration Form and Undertaking
[Clause 15.2 and Annexure ZR- 5].
 Copy of the Registration Form submitted to the Host College.
 Copy of the Memorial Review Form [Clause 15.5.2 and Annexure ZR- 6].
 Copy of the Oral Pleading Evaluation Form [Clause 15.6.2 and Annexure
ZR- 7].
 Copy of the Moot Performance Evaluation Form [Clause 19.1.1.2 and
Annexure ZR- 8]
 Copy of the Attendance Form [Clause 19.1.2.2 and Annexure ZR- 9]
 Copy of the Certificates of Participation and Achievement (if any).
 Original ticket of mode of transport of the team to and fro Symbiosis Law
School, Hyderabad and the Host College.
 Original bills of stationary and other relevant bills.
20.3. The team shall note that the reimbursable amount for stationary, travel, and
transportation including TA/DA shall be subject to Symbiosis International (Deemed
University), Pune Policy and may vary from case to case, and is final and binding.
20.4. No objections and/ or arguments regarding reimbursable amount shall be
entertained.
20.5. The team shall not be entitled to reimbursement if it fails to comply with the
standards as prescribed under Clause 20.1-20.4.

CHAPTER- IV

21. Code of Conduct and Penalty

21.1. The team shall face strict disciplinary action and/ or, but not limited to, instant
disqualification from the National Level Moot Court Competition, debarment from
subsequent editions of Zenith, if any/ all of the following actions have been observed:
21.1.1. Any attempt to contact framer of the problem and judges of Zenith or of
External Moot Court Competition; or
21.1.2. Any misconduct with the judge in or out of the courtroom, and thereby
undermining their credibility; or
21.1.3. Absenteeism after registration to Zenith or External Moot Court
Competition, because of what so ever reason/s; or
21.1.4. Any other unforeseen act of misconduct not covered under Zenith rules, on
the part of a member or team, both in the institute and during a moot court
competition, but is not limited to, the following:
21.1.5. Tardy and/ or improper registration to the Host College
21.1.6. Delay in submitting memorials to the hosting institute.
21.1.7. Delay in reaching the venue and any other improper conduct by which the
reputation of the institute is undermined at the venue of the Moot Court
Competition.
21.1.8. Any internal conflict that leads to strife and dissatisfaction amongst the
teammates and causes sub-standard performance in the moot.
21.2. On receipt of a complaint or information against any of the team member(s), or
from the mentors, or from the panel, or for breach of rules, or from the host institute,
or if the Faculty-in-charge thinks that any of the act of the team members may lead to
damaging reputation of the institute, may serve show cause notice on the team or any
such member(s), as the case may be.
21.3. The team served such notice shall be required to give an explanation to Ex-officio
Chairperson in writing. If the Ex-officio Chairperson is not satisfied with the
explanation, he may take any one or more of the following measures as corrective
action:
21.3.1. Ban from representing the institute in any mooting activity for a specified
period, at the least one year.
21.3.2. Ban from representing the institute in any Inter-University Competition for a
specified period.
21.4. Notwithstanding anything mentioned under Penalties, MCA shall reserve the right
to look into and initiate proceedings against any team or team member, with regards to
any internal conflict, conduct, submission of memorials, among others.
21.5. Decision of the Ex-officio Chairperson shall be final and non-reviewable in any of
the circumstances.

22. Enforceability and Revocation

22.1. The Zenith 2019 4th Internal Moot Court Competition Rules and Regulations shall
come into effect on any date designated by the Ex-officio Chairperson in consultation
with Deputy Director and Faculty In-charge of the Moot Court Association, with
prospective effect.
22.2. The Zenith 2019 4th Internal Moot Court Competition Rules and Regulations may
be revoked by Ex-Officio Chairperson in concurrence with Deputy Director and
Faculty In-charge of the Moot Court Association, with new rules in future, prospective
in nature.

23. Amendment to the Rules

23.1. The Zenith 2019 4th Internal Moot Court Competition Rules and Regulations are
amendable only at the discretion of the Ex-officio Chairperson in concurrence with
Deputy Director and Faculty In-charge of the Moot Court
23.2. Association, on receipt of the feedback and/or suggestions from any of the stake holders in a
prescribed form under Annexure ZR- 10, hereinafter referred to as ‘Amendment to Rules
Form’.
23.3. Further to Clause 22.1, the Ex-officio Chairperson reserves right to amend the Zenith
2019 4th Internal Moot Court Competition Rules and Regulations on his suo motu
initiatives provided the same is for the benefit of the larger student community.
