lesson
Drill: Observing/ Studying the calendar showing phases of the moon Drill: The planet song
Have you seen the moon? How often do you see it? Show a picture of the solar system. What does the picture show? (Let
the learners write something about the picture)
(Post different shapes of the Moon as seen each night)
B. Establishing a
purpose for the
lesson
How do you feel when there is no moon at night time? How does the
appearance and non-appearance of the moon at night affect your way of
life?
Now, the different shapes of the moon that you see are what we called Unlock difficult words or terms that learners may encounter in the
the “The Phases of the Moon”, and that is our topic for today. Let’s have lesson. (Planet, solar system, revolution, rotation, axis)
this diagram. (Present the skill and the problem of the new lesson). Let
the learners write what they have notice with the pictiure. (Present the skill and the problem of the new lesson)
C. Presenting
examples /
instances of the new
lesson
The diagram above shows the different positions of the moon around the The learner will do the following activity.
Earth with reference to the Sun. Have you noticed that the moon keeps
changing shape? (Discuss clearly the different phases of the moon based
from the diagram)

Group work: Group 1 will draw the orbits of the solar system and will
identify the inner planets by writing their name on the orbits. Group 2
will also do the same but they will be writng the outer planets on the
orbits that they have drawn.
