Purpose
This document describes the application procedure for licenses of eSight products
in various scenarios and the way to use these licenses.

This issue is the twelfth official release, which incorporates the following changes:
Updated 4.3.1 Loading a License File When the eSight License Is Valid and
4.3.2 Loading a License File When the eSight License Is Invalid, and added the
following description:
In V300R007C00SPC502 and later versions, if the APM is deployed and the number
of objects managed by the APM is greater than 500, you need to manually restart
eSight after importing the license. In other cases, the license takes effect
immediately after being imported without eSight restart.

Issue 10 (2017-05-30)
This issue is the tenth official release, which incorporates the following changes:
Starting from eSight V300R007, the eSight self-developed software adopts the
commercial mode of charging the annual subscription and support (SnS) fee.
Historical licenses are incompatible with the new version.
Issue 09 (2016-11-30)
This issue is the ninth official release, which incorporates the following changes:
● Added the policies of V300R006:
– Added the eSight Asset Manager to the management scope of the
eSight Platform function item.
Added the eSight Business Service Manager to the management scope
of the eSight Application Manager function item.

● Updated the license upgrade rules when the eSight software version changes.

● V300R010 inherits the SnS annual fee mode of V300R009. After the version is upgraded
to V300R010, the handling measures are the same as those of V300R009.
● The sales items of eSight Facilities Management License and eSight Application
Management License are deleted.
The following table lists the control item deleted from V300R010. (Other control
items are the same as those of V300R009.)
● V300R009 inherits the SnS annual fee mode of V300R008. After the version is upgraded
to V300R009, the handling measures are the same as those of V300R008.
● The sales item of eSight eLTE Management License (1000 Modules) is added.
The following table lists the control item added to V300R009. (Other control items
are the same as those of V300R008.)
● Since V300R007, the license is switched to the SnS mode. After the version is upgraded
from V300R006 to V300R008, the license automatically becomes invalid and eSight
enters a 60-day protection period. During the protection period, eSight functions are
unavailable. After the protection period ends, you cannot log in to eSight. To ensure
normal use of eSight, generate a new contract for V300R008, activate the license of
V300R008 based on the new contract, and load the license to eSight within the
protection period. For details, visit http://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/
bulletins-product/NEWS1000011129.
● According to the requirements of the license SnS mode, if the upgrade crosses R
versions, the license file must be changed through the ESDP. After eSight is upgraded
from V300R007 to V300R008, the license automatically becomes invalid and eSight
enters a 60-day protection period. During the protection period, eSight functions can
still be used. After the protection period ends, you cannot log in to eSight. To ensure the
normal use of eSight, you must change the license version on the ESDP website and
import the changed license to eSight during the protection period. For details, see
"Applying for a Commercial License After Version Change."
After eSight is upgraded to V300R007, the license will automatically become invalid, and a
60-day protection period starts. During the protection period, eSight functions are
unavailable. After the protection period ends, you cannot log in to eSight.
To ensure successful operations, generate a new contract for V300R007, activate the license
of V300R007 based on the new contract, and load it into eSight within the protection
period.
The commercial period continues after the license for V300R007 is loaded.

During version upgrade from V300R001 to V300R003, contact Huawei technical support
engineers to obtain the license file if S5500T or OceanStor 9000 is involved.
To apply for a commercial license file by yourself, you must obtain the Huawei
guest rights on the ESDP. (For details, see A Applying for ESDP Permission.)
Procedure
Step 1 Obtain the ESN of the eSight server. For details, see 5.1 Obtaining an ESN from
eSight.
Step 2 Log in to the ESDP (http://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Activation > Password Activation.
Step 3 Enter the activation password.
1. Enter the activation password. If multiple contracts exist, click Add and enter
multiple activation passwords.
– You can obtain the activation password from the license certificate of the product.
An example is provided on the right of the page. You can move the mouse pointer
to the picture to zoom in on the picture.
– The paper license certificate is delivered with the product, while the electronic copy
is directly sent to the mailbox specified by the distributor that has signed the
contract with Huawei. If you do not have the paper or electronic license certificate,
contact Huawei's reseller and provide your contract number to obtain the
activation password.
2. Read and confirm the message. Select I have read the above carefully.
3. Click Next.
Step 4 Enter the ESN or click to select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN.
Separate multiple ESNs with commas (,). Then, click Next.
When you select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN, check whether the selected ESN
is consistent with the actual one.
Step 6 In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK. The system displays a message
indicating that the activation task has been submitted. Click Download to save
the license file to a local path.

If the upgrade involves function or capacity expansion, you can obtain the license by
referring to 3.1 Applying for a Commercial License Using the Activation Password.
4.2 Precautions
● After obtaining the license file for the first time, back up the file for future
use.
● In a two-node cluster, active and standby servers use the same license. You
only need to import the license to the active server and the system will
automatically synchronize it to the standby server.
● The following table lists errors that may occur during license loading.

4.3 Procedure
Step 3 Click on the eSight license import page, select a license file, and click
Upload.

▪ Obtaining the ESN for physical machine installation: Select the MAC
address of the network adapter used by eSight, and record the ESN
that is automatically generated.
▪ Obtaining the ESN for VM installation: Record the unique ESN of the
VM that is displayed.

Step 2 Record the server ESN on the ESN generation page that is displayed.
In the physical machine scenario, the ESNs of both the physical machine and VM are
displayed. In the VM scenario, only the ESN of the VM is displayed.
For the active and standby physical machines, you need to log in to eSight on the active
and standby servers to obtain the ESNs, and separate the ESNs with commas (,) when
applying for a license for the two-node cluster.
For the active and standby VMs, you can directly obtain the ESNs of the active and standby
VMs on the VM tab page.

ID on the About page.

Obtain the dat file (for example, license.20140425.171431.460) from the "eSight
installation directory/AppBase/etc/license" directory.
Method 2:
Contact Huawei engineers in the local representative office or dial the technical
support hotline. For the hotline information, visit https://e.huawei.com/en/service-
hotline-query.
After applying for an account on the Huawei official website, you can obtain the
guest rights of the ESDP. The following describes how to apply for a Huawei
account:
Step 2 Enter required information and log in to the registered mailbox to activate the
account.

B Glossary
E
Equipment Serial A string of characters used to uniquely identify a
Number (ESN) piece of equipment and ensure correct allocation
of a license file to the specified equipment. It is
also called equipment fingerprint.
Entitlement ID The Entitlement ID is generated by the license
system for authenticating the user's identity
during activation. It is the only license key that
can be found on the ESDP.

License Serial A unique number that identifies a license file.
Number (LSN)
License Permission that the vendor provides for the user
in terms of a specific function, capacity, and
period of usage. A license can be a file or a serial
number. Usually the license consists of encrypted
codes. The operation rights vary according to the
level of the license.
License File The license file is an authorization for the
capacity, functions, and validity period of the
installed software. The license file is a .dat file
that is generated using the special encryption tool
according to the contract, and is delivered
electronically. The customer needs to load the
license on the device or software before the
functions supported by the license are applicable.

PAC Refer to network equipment acceptance certificate
signed by the customer and Huawei after delivery.
Obtaining the certificate is one of the conditions
for starting ETM handover. The preliminary
acceptance certificates include but are not limited
to PAC, RFS, and PAT.
R
Revocation Code A character string that is generated after the
invalidity command is executed. The character
string can be used to change the ESN on the
license website. After the invalidity command is
executed, the license file is invalid.
S
Subscription and The commercial mode of the annual software SnS
support (SnS) fee consists of two parts, including software
support and software subscription, and the
complete software charging mode consists of the
annual software SnS fee and software license fee.
