winging it early in my coaching career. I’d just rely on drills my old coach
used back in the 80’s. Yes, I should have figured that the game has
changed in since the 80’s!

and think about all the things you want to cover, there’s not a lot of
time. Every minute counts.
Boring practices. It’s tough to come up with new ideas on the spot
so most likely you’ll end up repeating the same drills over and over
again. My players were bored.
Not training with a purpose. Every drill should have a purpose,
whether it’s adding something to your o ensive system or fixing a
problem from the last game. Without planning, the drills don’t tie
in with what happens in game.

It’s hard to start from scratch so here are 3 templates you can use.
