ACTION PLAN ON THE 2019 NATIONAL READING MONTH


Theme: “Magbasa’t Umunlad”

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
To provide quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education for all
To lay the foundation for lifelong learning and service for common good

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
 To raise awareness on the importance of reading in the school community
 To develop students’ and teachers’ reading comprehension skills
 To learn about the most significant pieces of Philippine literature
 To use social media as a means to promote reading
 To manifest love for reading

Leaders of Readers November 22 School Head, Head Teacher, Materials for the bulletin board
Take a photograph of school teachers, students
personnel reading their favorite
books and enlarge the photos. Put
the photos on a bulletin board
under the heading, “Leaders of
Readers”. Then, take pictures of
students doing the same thing and
place their photos on an adjoining
board under the caption, “Look
who’s also reading!”

“I Teach Reading” Mentoring November 2019-April 2020 English, Filipino, MTB-MLE PowerPoint presentation
sessions supervisors and teachers
Mentoring sessions will be
conducted to groups of reading
teachers on topics relevant to
teaching literacy/reading. Topics to
be discussed are focused on
reading readiness, beginning
reading, and developing
comprehension skills among
learners to be conducted once a
month as a two-hour session at
ICTHS from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
