TIW XPAK LINER HANGER SYSTEM

The TIW XPak Expandable Liner Hanger/Packer is Applications:
designed to run with standard liner applications and Deepwater Extended Reach
incorporates industry proven expandable technology
to provide a liner top anchor/sealing device that is HP/HT Wash/Ream
unmatched in the industry.
Drilling with Liner Multi Stage Cementing
The unique design of the TIW XPak System allows a
relatively short expanded section, generally ranging Lost Circulation Multi Stage Fracing
from 16 to 24 inches depending on liner size, to
provide a pressure differential rating equal to the well
bore casing design and a hanging load capacity
equal to or greater than conventional liner hangers. Benefits

The slim profile design, with no external parts allows Manufactured from standard OCTG material
increased bypass area in most sizes and the robust
running tool design provides high torque capabilities High Pressure Integrity equal to casing design
for rotation and/or drilling with liner operations.
High Load Capability with ability to support
The TIW XPak Liner System is manufactured from long liners
standard OTCG material and can match most casing
grades. Also available in CRA Material. High Torque Capabilities for rotation and/or
drill down operations

HANGER PACKER DETAILS

The XPak Liner Hanger Packer is furnished with
hardened slips and multiple sealing devices that
are expanded into an anchoring and sealing
engagement to provide load capacities equal to or
greater than conventional hanger systems and
pressure ratings equal to the well bore casing
design.

The expander incorporates metal to metal ball

seals on the lower portion that remain in the
hanger body after expansion. The ball seals
provide a gas tight seal between the expanded
hanger and the expander mandrel.

The upper portion of the expander mandrel is

provided with a honed receptacle suitable for a
seal nipple with either conventional elastomer
seals or a metal to metal dynamic ball seal.

Expander/tie-back Hanger/Packer

EXPANDER
TIE-BACK MANDREL
ULTIMATE LINER TOP SEAL
The expandable section of the hanger
generally ranges from 16 to 24 inches in XPAK
length. Dovetailed slips provide high load HANGER/PACKER
capacity and the combination of metal to BODY
metal seal with elastomer back up seals
after expansion provide a high pressure gas
tight seal at the liner top. DOVETAIL SLIPS

The expander mandrel is left in place after

expansion and provides full support across ELASTOMER SEAL
the expanded tube which eliminates the low
collapse rating associated with other
expandable systems.

TIW XPAK MULTI-PISTON SETTING TOOL

The TIW Xpak Multi-Piston Setting Tool provides the
power required to drive the expander mandrel into the
hanger body. A series of pistons, with applied surface
pressure, provide an accumulated cross-sectional
area to create the necessary force to complete the
Shear Ring expansion. Liner size, percent of expansion and
casing design determine the surface pressure
requirement. In most sizes it will range from 3000 to
4500 PSI. In some cases it may require higher surface
Multi Piston pressures.
Power Section Shear Ring
The activation of the setting tool is controlled with a
shear ring. This allows for the necessary circulating
pressures required for cement displacement or drilling
operations without concern of premature expansion of
the hanger.

The XPAK Setting tool provides dual releasing

Collet capabilities for releasing the setting tool from the
hanger after the expansion is completed. Standard
right hand rotation mechanical release similar to
conventional liner hanger setting tools or auto release
(slack off-pick up) where rotation may not be desired.
Setting The Auto Release feature incorporates a ratchet ring
Retainer Nut
Mandrel in the upper portion of the collet and a set of ratchet
threads on the setting tool mandrel. After expansion of
the hanger, slack off to move the mandrel through the
collet until the ratchet threads engage the ratchet ring
(approximately 1 foot), The collet will now be locked to
the mandrel with the retainer nut below the collet. A
straight pull releases the collet from the hanger.
Collet Clutch

The RP Rotating Profile Sub located below the hanger

and the RP Dog Section of the setting tool provides
Retainer Nut
rotation and/or drill down capability. The RP Rotational
system is a field proven system that has been
successfully utilized with conventional rotating liner
applications for many years. A hydraulic clutch release
RP Rotating RP Rotating feature has been added to dis-engage the RP Dogs
Section Section during the hanger expansion process and allow the
setting tool to be released with rotational release.
