RALPH & RUSSO COUTURE S/S 2020

A dramatic affair of sequin and shimmer adorned statuesque silhouettes, lined with feathers,
ruffles, and fringes; the evening was quite a fantastical treat to the eyes. The setting was
quite simple, with minimal lighting. A portion of the ramp was lined with small podiums for
the models to stand on, once they were done with a walk around the runway, which was
kept in dark till the last model had walked the ramp. Against a playful palette of blues, pastel
pink, soft yellows, greens and black, there were flourishes of gossamer floral trains with a
holographic effect, big bows, giant rosettes, and ruched chiffons.

The duo filled the runway with eveningwear for every occasion, right from gowns for a gala,
to draped kaftan dresses, to jumpsuits and mesh suits, and by the end of the show, the
hemlines rose for a lineup of flirty cocktail dresses. Accessories were far and few, but the
most eye-catching pieces were feather lined strappy-heels and short-handled round
handbags, bejeweled fishnet stockings, and boots, and most definitely the large bows
attached to the back of the models' head.

The presence of jewelry doesn't even come to mind when talking about this collection
because the attention paid to the detail of the beadwork and other embellishments is
astonishing. From top to bottom, the ensembles were lined with sequins, crystals and 'n'
number of stones. Heavy beadwork was notably used in a few dresses around the neck and
the bust, creating an illusion of crystallized chokers or even draped body jewelry.
