TOMMY HILFIGER SS 2020

Following the typical American way of festivities bringing people of all ages, sizes, and ethnicities
together, Tommy did just that, in collaboration with Lewis Hamilton & H.E.R at Tate Modern, London.
The ramp was dressed down to the minimum of the lights rather than the usual spectacle it is for a
Tommy Hilfiger show. The unisex collection read into the American history of fashion cultures with
the maximized presence of the American colors. Naomi Campbell gave way to the show, walking
down the ramp in neon street style.

The collection walked from the confident color-blocked Neon street style to Utilitarian clothes in
olives to comfortable sweats in pastel pink, bopping into the sassy 80s edgy hip hop style, marching
towards a more patriotic style with a clear and an enlarged print of the American Flag, which gave
way to an array of all American highschool Varsity Jackets, swaying into light-colored billowy
summery silhouettes featuring a minimalized Versace like print and coming to an end with the classic
navy blue tailored formals in denims. The dominant trends prominent in the collection seemed like
oversized silhouettes, layering, and white-on-white.

A galore of billowing, fringed silk scarves were draped around all parts of the models diversely,
bringing in an air of elegance to the street style outfits, balancing out the bold-edge themed
collection. Thick gold chains, huge bags, and bucket hats played up the outfits quite perfectly. A
bunch of prints came into play on the ramp: nautical prints, stripes, the timeless Tommy Hilfiger
crest, and of course, the American flag.

A noticeable detail in the collection was that Lewis and H.E.R made their signature styles know
through the outfits. Lewis had his personalized signature 'Loyalty' printed in a bold letter as well as
the presence of his "H" logo. H.E.R kept it simple with her stage name monograms and lyrics from
her songs, printed in neon on several outfits, making it easier for her fans to spot them from a
distance.

Winnie Harlow, Paris Renee, and Halima Aden were amongst the few faces that walked the ramp,
bringing light to the very fact that Tommy indeed welcomed heterogeneity to this show.

Collectively, this collection seems like an ode to the diversity that resides in the Americas, which
despite the prevailing polarised views, is being held together by the plethora of creative minds, who
aren't afraid of breaking a few rules and jumping over certain barriers.
