SOCIAL
• Percussion Ensemble Concert – 12/11, 7:30-10pm. Concordia College Memorial
Auditorium. Come see THE Troy Davis (amongst others) perform with Viva Marimba!
• Santacon – Sat, 12/11, 2 p.m. A Santa-themed pub crawl in downtown Fargo. Dress up
as Santa (or an elf, or a reindeer), then spread the jolly throughout downtown.
• Downtown Window Decorating Contest – Voting ballots may be picked up at
participating businesses and at the Fargo Theatre. Vote for your favorite window
display along Broadway, Main Ave, 8th St. and side streets! Ballots much be dropped off
at the Fargo Theatre by 12/20. Winners announced 12/22.
• Downtown shops open late on Thursdays!

• Theatre B Presents “The Seafarer” – Thursdays through Saturdays through 12/23, 7:30
p.m., Theatre B. This magical tale of redemption might burn a bit, but it will warm your
soul like a shot of whiskey. Ahoy!
• Pippi Longstocking – Thursdays through Sundays through 12/19. Fargo Moorhead
Community Theatre. Grab your bags of gold.

Thursday, December 9
• Heavy is the Head – 8pm, The HoDo. Fargo’s very own reggae tribute band. Ya’ man.
• Inside Out String Band CD release party w/ The Boys ‘N’ The Barrels – 9pm, The
Aquarium. Barrels of what?! Fun? Monkeys? Whiskey?

Friday, December 10
• GB Leighton – 9:30pm, The Venue. Great entertainer.
• Tune in Tokyo – 9pm, Spirits Lounge at the Holiday Inn.
• Blimp – 9:30pm, Sidestreet Grille and Pub. Led Zeppelin tribute band. This just reminds
of Blimpie’s. How I miss thee…
• Simon Rowe Trio – 8pm, Studio 222.

• Welcome to Our World v8.0 with M.I.K.E./Push, Elich Nomes, J. Peach and more –

• The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (R) - In the final installment of the worldwide
phenomenon Millennium Trilogy, Lisbeth awaits trial for murder while Blomkvist works
to prove her innocence.
• The Tillman Story (R) – When Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career to join
the Army Rangers in 2002, he became a symbol of patriotism and duty. When the
government twisted his death into propaganda, the Tillman family united in a crusade to
reveal the truth.
• The Blenders – live on stage at the Fargo Theatre from 12/9-12/12 (Fri, Sat & Sun are
sold out – buy your tickets earlier next year, procrastinator)

• The Frederick B. Scheel Photography Collection: A New Gift to the Plains – 9/17-
8/15/11. Black and white photography by local business legend Fred Scheel along with
many donations from his personal collection, including work by Ansel Adams, Brett
Weston, Henry Gilpin and others.
• Andrea Carlson: VORE – Through 1/16/11. Carlson shows prodigious talent for
combining complex ideas with agile, compelling visual compositions that mix
representation with abstraction, acrylic and oil paint with watercolor, gouache, pen and
ink, graphite and colored pencil.

• YPN Niche Tour: InterceptEFT – Tues, 12/14, 4:30-6pm. Ever wondered, “How does
money safely and securely enter our checking accounts?” or, “What kind of systems are
used to ensure my credit card transactions are secure?” If you’ve wondered those and
other technical questions associated with the transfer of money, then join us for a tour
of InterceptEFT. This tour is geared towards YPN members who work in IT or Finance,
although it is open to everyone. InterceptEFT offers: Direct Deposit, Direct Payment,
Check Conversion/Guarantee, Credit Card Processing, Remote Deposit/Image
Processing, along with Origination/Wire Software. Free for YPN members; $5 for non-
members. Registration required.
• Annual YPN Holiday Social - Wed 12/15, 5:15-7pm, The Chalet at Edgewood Golf
Course. Lots of door prizes to be given away! A cash bar will also be available, with
complimentary hors d’oeuvres. This event is free for YPN members and $10 for non

• Downtown is going to be a whole lot brighter! Look for lighted trees up and down
Broadway. Downtown trees from Main Avenue to 6th Ave N. will be lit up. “The best way

• Check out the newly formed Moorhead Business Association (MBA). The MBA is a
start-up non-profit entity geared to retain and increase the visibility of existing
businesses in Moorhead by providing advocacy and networking opportunities. The MBA
is free to join for all of 2011 and is currently seeking members. For more information

• “The Great Norway Adventure” reality show is putting out a casting call for fun,
outgoing Americans with Norwegian ancestry. Age range is 18-60 and you must not
have traveled to Norway before. Application deadline is 1/10/11 –

GOOD CAUSES
• Applebee’s supports people affected by cystic fibrosis – 12/11, 8-10am, Applebee’s at
4900 13th Ave S, Fargo. Show up to Applebee’s and receive breakfast for only $5 per
person. All proceeds benefit people affected by cystic fibrosis.
• Calling All Artists: Home is where the Art is - Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity is
seeking artist participation in their upcoming ReStore Recycled Art Show and Auction to
be held in early February. Each artist will receive a $50 voucher to gather materials at
the Habitat ReStore and turn it into a work of art. Deadline to submit artwork is Jan.

• FM Symphony Holiday Pops Concert – 7pm, 12/16-12/18. Fargo Theatre.
• Tour De Pork – Fri 1/14, 5-7pm, Ramada Plaza & Suites. This event will feature local
Fargo Moorhead restaurant samplings of their pork entrees along with wine tastings to
pair with the dish. They are also looking for volunteers to help with the promotion and

• Michael Winslow – 3/24-3/26, Courtney’s Comedy Club. He’s the guy that did all of the
sound effects in the Police Academy movies.
