I. OBJECTIVES
The learners should be able to understand:
1. Content Standards 1. the concept of species;
2. the species as being further classified into a hierarchical taxonomic system.
The learners should be able to classify organisms using the hierarchical taxonomic
system;S8LT-IVh-20
3. Learning Competencies/
Objectives At the end of one hour class, the learners must be able to:
Write the LC code for 1. describe organisms under Phylum Mollusca;
each 2. categorize mollusks according to classes; and
3. appreciate the importance of mollusks through creating an artwork out of its
shells.
II. CONTENT Kingdom Animalia: Phylum Mollusca

IV. PROCEDURES
Show pictures of the following organisms ( PPT) and ask the learners to classify
these organisms, whether flatworm, roundworm or segmented worm.
1. tapeworm (ans: flatworm) 4. fluke (ans: flatworm)
A. Reviewing previous
lesson or presenting the 2. Ascaris (ans: roundworm) 5. hookworm (ans: roundworm)
new lesson 3. leech (ans: segmented worm) 6. earthworm (ans: segmented worm)
(Note: After the learners answered it correctly, praise him or give positive
feedback,e.g.,great, very good, thank you, etc.)
Puzzle Game
Group Activity (Boys & Girls)-2mins.
Learners will be given broken pieces of puzzle and they are going to fix it to form a

for the lesson (Note: Outputs will be posted on the board.)
Question: What image have you formed out of the broken pieces of puzzle?
(Possible answer: A shell, different types of seashells)

C. Presenting Based on the priming activity, ask the learners of this question:
examples/instances of Do you think these organisms belong to animal kingdom? Why or why not?
the new lesson
(Possible answer: Yes, because they are heterotrophs. They’re moving.)
Follow-up Questions:
1. How would you describe the shells that you’ve used in the activity?
(Possible answer: Some has two valves, some has one)
2. How do you classify them?
(Possible answer: By simply looking at the structure of shells)
(Note: After posting each picture, ask the learners if they agree with their
classmate’s answer.)
(Note: Shells and glue are provided. See attached rubrics for their output.)
Based on the discussion of Phylum Mollusca, let the learners fill in the graphic
organizer being given.

“Fact or Bluff”
Direction: Identify the statements whether it tells a fact or a bluff.
1. Chitons have no shell.
2. Most bivalves are sedentary, spending most of their lives in one place.
3. Mollusks are vertebrate animals.
4. Gastropods only live in ocean.
I. Evaluating learning 5. All gastropods have shell.
6. In most mollusks, respiration takes place through gills.
7. Mollusks most often reproduce asexually.
8. Different types of mollusks exhibit external or internal fertilization.
9. Bivalves live only in the sea.
10. Cephalopods have no external shell.
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught
up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these
work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I
wish to share with other teachers?
