The Vision of PDMHS

A leading high school that yields world class learners who are God-fearing,
morally upright, socially responsible, intellectually and physically sound, and civic-
spirited-life-skilled individuals.

The Mission of PDMHS

To provide world-class, superior, high caliber, secondary education attuned
with the latest innovations capable of transforming the learners to be humane, globally
competitive and productive citizens.

History of Pres. Diosdado Macapagal High School

Pres. Diosdado Macapagal High School (PDMHS) was initially conceived by

Mr. Virgilio S. Luat, when he and the parents and residents of Barangay Katuparan
requested the assistance of Hon. Congressman and now Senator to build a school in his
letter dated October 13, 1999 proposing the vacant area, fronting the Chapel of HHSG
Village as the site of the said proposed school. Their request was granted with the
groundbreaking of the land donated by Bases Conversion Development Authority
(BCDA) on August 15, 2005.

The ground breaking ceremony was led by Honourable former Congressman

and now Senator Alan Peter S. Cayetano as project for his constituents in Signal
Village, Taguig City and as part of his legislative initiative as he filed House Bill No
5557 to the 12th Congress Second Regular Session and House Bill 6714 to the 12th
Congress Third Regular Session entitled: “An Act Establishing a National High
School in Barangay Signal Village in Taguig, Metro Manila to be Known as the
President Diosdado Macapagal National High School”.

Due to overwhelming concern to education and goodness of Senator Alan Peter

S. Cayetano, he donated the first four-storey school building project with twenty (20)
classrooms. Another additional four-storey school building with twelve (12)
classrooms was also constructed by the Local Government under the mayoralty of
former Mayor and now Congressman Freddie Tinga. Senator Alan Cayatano is
considered the main proponent and founder of this school.

Two years after, the said school buildings were finally opened for operation in
August 15, 2007. There were twenty one teachers deployed at the start. Some were
volunteers and others were deployed by Dr. Domingo Manimtim from Signal Village

National High School-Main. After a month, said volunteered teachers were hired by
the local government through Special Education Funds (SEF) on contractual basis.
They were distributed to thirteen (13) sections. The first year level had eight (8)
sections and second year level had five (5) sections. Teachers were introduced to
parents and students who transferred from Signal Village National High School main
for the reason that they were residents of Barangay Katuparan, Heneral Headquarters
Support Group (HHSG) and Pinagsama Village.

In September 1, 2007, the school was inaugurated. Dr. Domingo G. Manimtim

as Principal of Signal Village National High School supervised the Pres Diosdado
Macapagal High School as well as the SVNHS main during this period.

In school year 2010-2011, PDMHS had 1,847 students with 58 regular and
LSB teachers. During this period, the school had completed its student population
from first year to fourth year levels under the supervision of Dr. Eleanor F. Abisado,
principal IV, Signal Village National High School main assisted by and with proper
coordination of Mr. Nelson S. Quintong, the Assistant to the Principal of SVNHS-
Main (and now principal 1 of Taguig Science High School).

April 1, 2011 marked the first commencement exercises of PDMHS-SVNHS

Annex under the administration of the abovementioned principal and assistant
principal.

On April to May, 2011, Honourable Mayor Laarni L. Cayetano constructed a

big multi-purpose hall at the 5th floor of the Cayetano building as part her highly
admired pro-education program.

On July 4, 2011, a new Officer-In-Charge was designated whose name is Dr.

Delfin R. Hernandez Jr., one of the most brilliant and most intelligent educators in the
Department of Education. He is presently the new school head of this school. In his
first arrival in the school he immediately formulated school new vision, mission,
philosophy, objectives and other important directional strategies for the continuing the
vibrancy and enthusiasm of its constituents. He also introduced massive innovations in
school organizations, administrative mechanisms, democratic atmosphere, professional
development programs and participative leadership among the teachers and staff
despite of school’s deficiency in terms of funding and income.

At present, the school is presently an annex school of Signal Village National

High School which is autonomous in nature and near to be independent from its
mother school. It has approximately 2, 200 students, 21 nationally funded teachers and

47 locally funded teachers, 1 clerk, 1 administrative assistant, 3 utility personnel and 8

security guards.

The said school is a general public high school with a School ID No. 320606
under the Schools Division of Taguig City and Pateros of the Department of
Education. It is almost reliant to the kindness, benevolence and support of the local
government of Taguig City under the dynamic, excellent and highly admired
leadership of Honourable Mayor Laarni L. Cayetano for its continued survival and
progress. Mayor Lani Cayetano is its main patron and sustainer.

PDMHS offers general high school education, alternative learning system and
open high school program modes of education to students, out-of –school youth and
other interested individuals in GHQ Village, Barangay Katuparan, North Signal
Village, Barangay Pinagsama, Western Bicutan and other nearby barangays in Taguig
City.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE

On the first day of the work immersion program the morning period became
office work on task of signing papers, reviewing notes & paper printing. When the
afternoon period came I became an observer of the class in which the behavior and the
performance of the teacher will be critiqued by me. Knowing that it was the first day
the students were a bit weary on my actions thinking that my personality is strict and
professional but in the truth I am a cool-headed guy. The students convey their
emotions and behavior relatively on their age. The basis on the students from lower
sections and higher sections on academic wise was far superior but some students
excel in other learning strategies like quiz bee and performance. The teachers on the
other hand give an example on teaching the subject on behalf of misbehaving students
they control on how the students will act according to their teaching styles. As the days
went by I got to mingle with the students on teaching hours and on non-class hours by
that students have opened up to me by giving them their own opinions and showing
and reflecting on how to surpass their grades and develop their mental and emotional
tendencies being that they are adolescent ages.

On behalf of the teachers their working environment in the English Department

of President Diosdado Macapagal High school they treat each other as more than
colleagues and friends likely they are a family in which they support on their Daily
lesson plans, give recommendations to students, help on the counting of grades and
evaluation of their co-teachers. Showing that they respect each other without bias as
they forget their rankings from Teacher 1 up to Master Teacher 2 and treat each other
as long term friends by the time that I was immersed in their environment I was treated
with respect and some slight privileges coming from teachers. I remember I was being
greeted with respect and treated as a teacher by having my own students do the heavy
lifting on my given modules, presentation equipment and being a good adviser to my
students in which I can help.

Overall I liked how the students treated me and being a good example of a
teacher to my students by inspiring them I particular I had a student that cried over me
for being called that she had potential on becoming a successful person one day.
