Water Absorption of Insulation Report

Test Number: RD181202WA-II Date of Test: May 1 – 4, 2018

Specimen Number: 1650180425-33,36 Date of Manufacture: Unknown

Description of Thermobreak Thermal Insulation; Physically Crosslinked Closed Cell Polyolefin Foam
Test Specimen: Faced with Reinforced Aluminium Foil

Test Method: ASTM C1763-16, “Standard Test Method for Water Absorption by Immersion of
Thermal Insulation Materials and ASTM C1427 – 16, “Standard Specification for
Extruded Preformed Flexible Cellular Polyolefin Thermal Insulation in Sheet and
Tubular Form”

Report Prepared For: Sekisui Pilon Pty Ltd / Mr. Graeme Wood

Background
The amount of water absorbed by an insulation product due to submersion in water has been determined in
accordance with ASTM C1763. Specimens of the insulation are conditioned, submerged under water, and
dried according to the appropriate procedure listed in the standard. The average weight gain of three
specimens is measured and used to calculate the volume percent of water absorbed.
Description of Test Specimens
Three foam samples approximately 12 by 12 by 1 inch were used.
Test Results
