Challenge Screening: Grade 5
It is time for the annual screening for Challenge, the
secondary gifted and talented program. Fifth grade
students who are not currently identified for Chal-
lenge, may be screened for service for sixth grade.
The program for secondary students (grades 6
through 12) is a subject specific aptitude program that
targets the language arts, math, social studies and sci-
ence disciplines. Secondary students may be referred
for screening in one, two, three or all four content
areas.
Program service would begin in 2011-2012. Parents
may refer their child for screening by picking up a
Parent Checklist from the front office or requesting
one from the counselor. A letter was sent home with
all students on November 9. Additionally, these
forms are available online from http://

Completed forms must be returned to the coun-
selor or Challenge teacher by Wednesday, De-

Science Enrichment
Thanks from 4th Grade
Thanks to all the 4th grade parents who
came to help with the 4th grade Human
Body Science labs on Friday, December
3. The kids really enjoyed interacting at
each of the 5 different stations.
A special thank you to Carrie Eick, 5th
grade parent, for helping out with all the labs and
getting everything set up and prepared. Thanks
also goes to Michelle and Casey Mobley, 1st grade
parents, for helping us out at multiple ses-
sions. We could not do these labs without all the
parent volunteers. Thanks so much for enriching
our children’s lives.
CLASS GROUP PICTURES will be taken
at Pattison on Wednesday morning,
January 12, 2011. Order envelopes will be
sent home the first week of January. Stu-
dents must PREPAY in order to receive a
class picture.
We will also have INDIVIDUAL SPRING
PICTURES taken the same day. In early
February, each student will
bring home a sample proof
with ordering information and
further instructions. Smile!
