Spare conductors in instrument and telecom cables shall be isolated in the field and connected to an earth point at the source end. In cabinets without spare terminals, spare conductors shall be covered with yellow/green sleeves, marked with the cable number, and connected directly to the relevant earth bar. In cabinets with terminals, spare conductors shall be marked with terminal numbers and connected to terminals that are linked together and connected to the relevant earth bar.

Be adequately insulated by means of
terminations suitable for the type of protection(heat shrink tube is acceptable)
Unused cores in Be connected to earth in hazardous area end.
Multi-core cables Be adequately insulated from earth and from
each other at BOTH ends by use of suitable IS cable terminations.
If other circuits in the cable have an earth
connection(e.g. via the associated apparatus), be connected to the earth point used to the earth point used to earth any intrinsically safe circuits in the same cable, but shall be adequately insulated from earth and from each other by use of suitable terminations at the other end.
