10-Day Escape To An African

Paradise

By Erik Fridman
Above is the amazing Botswana
Elephant Trail
There are 196 unique countries in
the world,
situated on 7 very different continents, all home to a
total of slightly over 7 billion varying individuals. As a travel writer, I
have gotten the amazing opportunity experience many of these
countries, almost all in fact. From America, to Taiwan; from China to
Russia - Botswana is a truly must-see and unique experience that
everybody needs to see in their lifetime.

I personally got to experience a lively 10-day safari adventure

during my visit to this Southern African country. My exhilarating
vacation took place in the beginning of July, a perfect time to take a
safari tour in Botswana. During the months of May to October, the
game viewing is at an all time peak because in Botswana, these are
the winter months. Because of the dry weather, the animals are
concentrated at the water sources, making it easy to view them. More
specifically, the truly best months are June through August, as the
game viewing is at an all time peak of consistent excellence and there
is no bothering rain, and significantly less risk of malaria.

With authentic and realistic viewing locations, from a 4x4 open-

sided van, to a canoe and even by physically walking through the safari
and right next to the animals, the number one reason one should be
motivated to take this trip is simply because of the phenomenal sense
of adventure. For a decent cost, you experience everything. Everything
is realistic, and nowhere else can you be so close and feel so involved
in the environment you are visiting. As if things could not get any
cooler, you actually travel from location to location within Botswana by
a small place, making the adventure just that much more real. Starting
and ending in Maun, Botswana, you can choose the layovers you visit
in between the start and the end.

Botswana is known for it’s Khama Rhinos, but the most amazing
sight that I saw was the Botswana Elephant Trail. Firstly, I cannot
begin to express how close I was to actually touching the animals, and
how much I felt like I was a local and I belonged in that environment.
This trail extends to nearby countries, but the most beautiful part is in
Botswana itself, which holds the largest number of elephants in the
world! When, not if, you choose to visit Botswana, you need to see this
trail. Alongside the elephants, you do need to check out the Khama
Rhino Sanctuary, which is designed to protect these precious animals.
The Mokolodi Park, which took us an entire day to explore, features an
insane variety of wild animals - from cheetahs to giraffes, zebras and
many more, this park is a staple in Botswana and it is a must see. Most
of my trip was in the real setting of the safari and local environment,
however this is of course overwhelming to individuals who are not
used to it. Do not worry! In the evenings, we were taken back to 4-star
hotels in whichever part of Botswana we were exploring, just to let us
come back to our ‘natural’ setting in an urban lifestyle.

All in all, I could not recommend any location more than I am

recommending Botswana! With such a personal touch to the trip, and
such luxurious treatment, there are virtually barely any barriers that
can possibly make you say no to getting on a plane within the next
week and beginning your once in a lifetime trip.
