Biography
General Manager of Sofitel and Novotel Dalat Tony
Chisolm has employed in the tourism and hospitality
industry for twelve years in Australia and Asia. He has
been working for Accor Asia Pacific for five years since
2004, including about four years experience working in
Vietnam. Thus, Chisolm can communicate well in both
English and Vietnamese at a fair level.

Chisolm graduated from Auckland Institute of Studies St


Helens and started his career at Hyatt hotel in his birthplace, New Zealand in 1993 as a
Reservations Manager & Customer Services Manager. Team Building and Project
Management are some of the strengths of Chisolm. After five years working, Chisolm was
assigned to Hyatt International Project Manager for New Zealand and achieved the Hyatt
Employee of The year award in 1996. Later, he started working as the Regional Sales
Executive in June 1998 for Flag Choice Hotels in Auckland New Zealand, one of the largest
accommodation services in New Zealand and Australia.During this time, Chisolm also
participated in the indoor cricket tournaments as the captain of North Harbour and Auckland.
He also joined many national tournaments in New Zealand and Australia.

From 1999 to 2001, Chisolm undertook different positions in Duxton hotel in Australia and
New Zealand. His responsibilities included making marketing plan and marketing strategies
for low seasons, maximization of special events, recruitment and trainning and set up for
room department as Rooms Division Manager EAM in Duxton Perth Australia and Duxton
Wellington New Zealand. With the capability to create and enhance products and services
quality, Chisolm became the Food & Beverage Director EAM of Duxton Wellington New
Zealand and achieved the valuable award - The Gill Restaurant Won New Zealand
Restaurant of The Year 2002. His tasks were to manage outlets and maintain the profit of
Food and Beverage.

Being too familiar with the Western business environment, Chisolm wanted to experience a
new business environment in developing countries. Thus, in July 2003, he moved to Vietnam
and continued his position in Duxton Vietnam for 7 months. He was responsible for
managing over 100 staffs and fully localizing all Expatriate Food & Beverage Positions.
With over 10 year experience in the hospitality industry and good knowledge and experience
in public relations, Chisolm successfully operated the whole business of the five-star hotel as
the Director of Operations of Sofitel Plaza Saigon since 2004 to 2006. He planned, managed
and arranged all the works of hotel and departments from Rooms Division, Food &
Beverage, and Lobby Bar to Human Resources, Public Relations & Marketing, and Meeting
Room Refurbishment. Moreover, he successfully ran the Smile Accor Regional Coordinator
for Vietnam.

At the beginning of 2006, New Otani Hotel in Singapore changed its name to Novotel Clarke
Quay. Chisolm moved to Singapore and managed the new hotel as the Resident Manager.
The expertise in company vision and growth opportunities, Marketing & Brands of Chisolm
is the main motivation for this promotion. During two years, he succeeded in repositioning
and full hotel refurbishment from New Otani Hotel to the Novotel Clarke Quay. In addition,
he completed well the role of project manager and assistant project manager for events and
conference in 2006 and 2007.

In 2008, Chisolm came back to Vietnam and assumed being General Manager Sofitel &
Novotel Dalat. During his present, Sofitel Dalat Palace received two regional awards for
Vietnam Guest Service and Vietnam Brand Mercure. Chisolm also contributed to Regional
Vietnam Sofitel projects as a manager and Regional South East Asia Food & Beverage as
Coordinator. Beside business, Chisolm usually plays golf and is known a good golfer in
Dalat.
