FOUNDATION

Material: stone/brick
Plastering material: cow dung+ mud
Method: foundation is laid as a raised rampart on which flooring is laid. The floor
is occasionally plastered with cow dung mixed with mud.

WALL:
Material: compressed stabilised earth block
Binding material: mud
Method of construction of mud block:
Compressed earth blocks use a mechanical press to form blocks out of an appropriate
mix of fairly dry inorganic subsoil, non-expansive clay and aggregate.
Advantage: •on-site materials can be used, which reduces material cost
• the uniformity of the blocks simplifies construction, and minimizes or eliminates
the need for mortar, thus reducing both the labor and materials costs.

Method of making walls: the blocks are arranged linearly one over the other with
mortar that may be a simple slurry made of the same soil/clay mix without
aggregate, spread or brushed very thinly between the blocks for bonding
