1. Policy

Provide a standardized protocol for laboratory activities concerning the proper disposing
of waste for both solid and liquid toxic wastes.

2. Purpose

Hazardous waste whether chemical, medical or radioactive and other laboratory waste,
such as sharps and glass, is generated in many laboratories and requires regulated disposal to
ensure safety of students, the equipment, and the environment.

4. Persons Responsible

All of the students should abide to the rules of proper waste disposal

 Pharmaceutical Analysis Head – He/she should remind the students to practice proper
disposal inside the laboratory for both solid and liquid toxic waste.
 Equipment Manager – He/she needs to make sure that the broken equipment are disposed
properly.
 Analysis - He/she should dispose all toxic waste utilized properly
.
5. Standard Operating Procedures

Policy on Proper Waste Disposal

1. Trash bins are available inside the laboratory and along the corridors.
2. Labelled containers for laboratory wastes are provided.\
3. The solid wastes materials should be disposed in the solid waste bins,
according to its classification.
4. The toxic liquid waste materials should be disposed in the toxic waste
bottle in the fume hood.
5. Use PPE in disposing wastes, especially the toxic waste.
