Racking Syystem

17.1 Racking should be

b set up, opperated and m
maintained aaccording to the design, iinstallation aand operationnal
guideelines of the rracking manuufacturer. It should be deesigned speciifically for thhe size, shapee and weight of
the pproducts beinng stored. Anny modificattion should bbe checked bby the originnal supplier// manufacturrer/
desiggner prior to iinstallation im
mplementatioon in the faciility.

way and any overhead obsstruction meaasured from the leading eedge of the trread.
17.7 The horizontal toop rail of the guardrail shaall be 110 cm
m above the walking

17.8 Guarrdrail must be providedd to close anny other oppenings throuugh which a person maay fall. Wheere
guarrdrails are om
mitted for paallet drops, ssafety gates, removable guardrail secctions or rem
movable chaiins
mustt be used ffor fall prottection. Theese devices must meet the same sstrength andd configuratiion
requuirements as ppermanently installed guaardrail.
17.9 Kickk plates to bee installed at tthe edge of thhe elevated rracking floor. Kick-platess shall extendd at least 4” ((10
cm) above the flloor surface. Kick-plates are not requuired at pickking locationns but are reqquired at palllet
dropp locations.
17.10 Lighhting fixturess and smoke ddetectors shoould not be loocated above the rack/sheelves.
17.11 Rackk/shelves should not bee loaded beyyond their ddesigned cappacity. Rackk/shelves shaall be labellled
accoordingly for m
material specification & ssafe uniformlly distributedd load.
