If An Overseas Is Visiting To Your House, How

Would You Connect With Him

It was a fine morning during my summer vacations

for the months of May and June. At breakfast my
mother informed me that my cousin Abdul Rehman
is coming toPakistan for the first time from
the United State of America (USA) and will stay
at our house.

Abdul Rehman is 15 years old. He is son of my

dad’s elder brother and is living in the US for
the last 25 years. Abdul Rehman was born in the
States.
I was very excited to have a foreign guest at my
house and I started planning to make his stay a
memorable one. Rehman was scheduled to arrive
in Karachi.

The next morning my parents and I went to the

airport to receive him. I was very excited but
also nervous on how I could communicate with him
due to our language barrier. I am pretty good in
speaking English but not good enough to convey
my actual feeling to others through words.

While waiting at the Airport, that is

the Jinnah InternationalAirport. The wait was
excruciating, I had all these feelings running
through me. I was happy and scared, excited and
tensed. Not sure what the next weeks were going
to be like.
My family being my family gave him the red
carpet treatment, not sure if I did get jealous
back there, watching my mum Yes!!! My mum
showers her blessings on my cousin. I was too
curious to know about him.

As he was a foreigner I was intrigued my way he

lives. So then I started to talk to him.
Initially I was hesitant in speaking English but
soon we started sharing our opinions about
reading and school. Guess that way he was no
different.

I asked him what he would like the most. He told

me about his favorite sport ‘baseball.’ He
described the game so well that I also got lot
of knowledge about baseball.

I shared my favorite game of cricket with him.

Rehman was very much interested in the cricket
as this game was not popular in theUSA. He
requested to teach him how to play the cricket.

Then I asked him about his favourite food. He

answered “Cheese Macaroni.” I also answered the
same and soon we started to remember the royal
taste of that food. Then we discussed about our
culture.

He told me the national game

ofAmerica “baseball” and I told the national
game of Pakistan“hockey.”

We discussed about our cuisines. I told him that

the most famous food eaten in Pakistan is
Biryani. Pakistani foods are known because of
the spices in them. I told him that in Pakistani
foods, there is a huge amount in quantity of
spices.

Some of the Pakistani dishes are Nihari, Tikka,

etc: The next day I took him to my school and
introduced with my school fellows. Later I
decided to take him out and show some beautiful
and historical places of Karachi.

We first visited to the beach ‘Sea-View’. He

enjoyed the place and spent most of the time at
the beach.

The next day I took him to Karachi Zoo. He was

astonished while watching the white lion and
some other animals. Then I took him to the tomb
of our founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He was stunned.
He became very excited after some of these days.
But sadly it was his time to go back to America.

We all went to leave him to airport early in the

morning because the flight to America was exact
at 6:00 am.

We all gave him a nice goodbye and returned to

home. These were the best days of my life, which
I will never forget.
